hi guys how good are the fuel gauges on the fl? the reason i ask is mines seems to have a mind of its own. when the light comes on i put in £20 of diesel and it brings it up to the second white line i drive say 10 miles and it drops to just above the red and then sits there for ages is this normal ? plugged in a code reader just to see and no codes any ideas ?

regards

mark

they are not very relible on the earlier ones a bit better on the face lift thats acording to mine anyway other may differ

could be a lot of things tbh but if you want to get to the sender it's in the fuel tank as a unit with the pump and filter.

i'm staying away from mine until i absolutly have too

Nice one mate am going to pull it out and have a look will post up my findings

dunt go charging in................you can feck it up bigtime.

have a search on here for how to's and go easy...buy the sealing ring before you open it up cos you'll knacker the one already fitted...good luck

yea mate ive had the pleasure of doing one of these befor on another car

Even my facelift model is far from accurate, reads full for about 100 miles then drops to just over half. Some mornings reads full and other mornings reads half even if the cars only driven a few miles. I always top up with a full tank when the gauge reads 1/4 full, well before the warning light comes on.

Same with mine - although it doesn't drop off as fast as yours seems to. I also fill up at the 1/4 full mark but can get 60 odd litres in at that stage. That's pretty much a tank-full I think (13 odd gallons?)
