Hello there, I've been thinking for a while about getting a 300tdi 90 but I'm a bit worried it will cost me a fortune in fuel as it will be my everyday car.

Whats a very rough estimate of MPG for a half decent one?

I would expect 25mpg absolute minimum with over 30mpg if you're driving sensibly with road tyres on. My 110 td does 25 and a 300tdi will be more economical.

If you drive it like a hoon down the motorway expect low 20's... drive it nicely and expect low 30's. Aerodynamics int exactly a Defenders strong point... so high speeds and your MPG seriously suffers.

just throw caution to the wind and buy yourself what is a fantastic piece of british motoring history! you will quadruple the amount of people that will smile and wave at you, you wont regret it! dont forget to post a pic!

I've got a 1998 defender 90 300tdi CSW and i use it for everyday commuting to work, mainly 60% dual carriageway, 40% country roads and i get 300 miles from a 12 gallon tank.
