Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of advice.

2000MY TD5 Disco.

The drivers side windscreen wiper keeps hitting the "A" pillar when in full operation.
I've tried adjusting the position of the wiper arm at its connection to the splined drive, but then it drops below the level of the windscreen surround.
I should mention that there's some play in the drive spline its self - so I guess its simply worn out.
I've come to the conclusion that the whole mechanism needs replacing.
On ebay there are several used mechanism's and motors for sale, some of which are listed for the 200i and 300i - all look very similar to the ones listed for the TD5.
My question is this, are the mechanisms from the earlier 200i and 300i the same fit as for my 2000 TD5

Many thanks,
John

The 300Tdi wiper motor/mechanism will fit, but the motor's connector is different.

The D2 wiper motor/mechanism has superseded the 300Tdi part, but must be used with an adaptor loom (YMQ104550) on D1's, to convert the newer motor connector to the D1 wiring harness -

I don't think that there's an adaptor loom for the other way round - using an older part on a newer vehicle.

However, the 300Tdi motor connector's terminals are 6.3mm (.250") spades, which can be used with normal 'Lucar' connectors.

Or I could sell you the proper 6-way female connector that will mate with it.

.

Thanks for the advice Paul.
If I cant find a TD5 version at least I can try a 300i version, I don't mind doing a bit of electrical reconnecting if its necessary.

Thanks again,
John
