Hi All,

I have started hearing a noise from the front of the car (Freelander 1 2002) not sure where its coming from but it souind like a low "de-de-de-de-de" type of noise you would expect as if its a warped disc rubbing on the pads.

The noise first appeared as i cornered, but now carries on when the car is running straight under acceleration, does eventually clear once straight for about 250 yards.

I have changed the anti roll bar bushes and all bushes on the front swing arms, noise still there.

I replaced the IRD about 14 months ago complete with the VC, and am dreading the start of the same.

has any body out their had a similar problem and what was the fix ?

Not changed the discs yet next job, but they look OK.

Thanks All

Keith

Had the VCU seized causing IRD failure? If so it's not uncommon for the CV joints to fail due to the added torque a failing VCU puts through the driveshafts !!

Hi,

Sorry to bother you again, but you said you are a mechanic. Do you need the land rover tool to lever out the drive shafts or is there another way.

Kind Regards
