The next job on my list is the drivers door hinges,

searches come up with diagrams or defender hinges ?

A fellow disco owner commented that in order to do this 'you must remove the window frame section first' ??

So is this an easy job and doable on your own ??

have been putting this off for a while but now time to do it.:clap2:

Removing the window frame is pretty easy. It's definitely doable on your own. Just make sure you've got a torx bit for undoing the bolts holding the hinges to the door and A post.

Put a trolley jack under the door cos they're fecking heavy ... or a folded workmate or an old folded pushchair ... get my drift :D

Pull the pins not the bolts, circlip on each top and bottom ... easier to line up again after  and the retaining strap ...

the electrics plug in just inside the 'A' post trim, 3 or 4 plugs that you can't mix up. you do have to feed the loom through both skins of the 'A' post though, it is grommited in both skins...

and if your changing the hinges beware that the "captive" nuts on the inside of the door are not actually attached to anything. They will instead fall down inside the door with a gleeful clattering noise ... :D

If in doubt take photos wiv the camera phone ... then you'll know where things go ...

cheers guys

logically it seems easy ish

and straight forward

but usually there is something hidden to bite you in the ass

gonna have to do it as it is nearly dropping an inch now:eek:
