just been told the rear 4 pin will fit the front ???? how true is that

It will, but as i said before the crown wheels are handed. So it would be driving the wrong side of the crown wheel teeth. Does nobody ever listen? :(:(

Didn't know the p 38s had correct rotation CWP's I assumed they were like the old rover diffs driven the wrong side of the teeth when fitted to the front as per all motors up until I guess td5 If what your saying is correct .

Well you maybe right, but i know landrover used to fit handed crown wheels at one stage. Think they have stopped doing it now. Looking at parts list front and rear two pins are same part number. Did not look at four pins. So it looks like it does not matter what you fit anymore. Got the info from Crown diffs site there are photos of handed crown wheels and pinions. May have misread it. Take a look.

There you go like I said I've not had any fronts at all to play with

James when they go wrong what exactly usually goes wrong?

most of the ones ive had its wear in outer pinion bearing ,if lucky you catch them before teeth get damaged as cw/p wernt available as std part
