I need to get some recovery and towing gear on my landy in the new year...

I'm going to get the NAS rear tow step and for the back regular jate rings but for the front I thought these looked quite good… or should I just stick some jate rings on the front as well? anyone got them?

Will be fitting a steering guard at some point, quite like the look of the Flat Dog one that's powder coated black…

I'm rubbish making decisions….

Link to the flatdog steering guard pls, they make such nice stuff!

I am probably getting this one, seeing as it is cheap and has recovery eyes:

I can't work out anything for the back on mine, my old NAS towbar isn't going to fit easily and the bolts for the jate rings I have are too long...

Those GMB recovery eyes are rather expensive!
I've got a couple of 'D' rings on the front of my landy. Cost me £20 for the pair. Although I do like the look of the ones linked.
If you're not bothered about price, go for em! Just make sure that they are fitted correctly, I've seen a two towbars pulled clean off before due to poor recovery technique and terrible workmanship!

Can see them in this pic. :)

I liked the look of them recovery eyes until I saw the price

I have gone silver underneath. That flatdog one looks good.

That steering guard I linked to is powder coated black, but you are right, doesn't look as cool as the FD one.

I got 2 jate rings from Paddocks for £12. Not entirely sure about their structural integrity though, and I'm no engineer, but I'm pretty sure the load bearing bit shouldn't rest on the threaded bit of a bolt...

Ah, I see, maybe I'm just a tight twunt  and it's cost enough already.
I do actually rather like them and they'd fit with my air-con grill too.

Yeah… I like the look of the chunkier swivel type ones too, but can't see any already powder coated and can't be bothered to faff on with that for some recovery points.

Going to try and get the tow bar, steering guard and lamp guards ordered over xmas so i can fit them while i'm off over xmas… Depends if work give me a bonus or not this year though :(

I just feel blind terror fitting anything to mine especially if it involves me having to drill anything

Ah, they just go through where those little recovery rings currently are. No drilling required :)

I am going to wait for that FD steering guard if it is only £125, it looks pretty! Plus I need to order some spot light brackets for my FD rax.

The eyes i want for the front, you have to drill the bumper… i nearly cried drilling to fit the dog guard

yeah i live the FD stuff… even considered just dropping my landy of with them and giving them my credit card and my list of stuff i want doing :D

I think most of my stuff will come from them, so far I have got my rack, ladders, spare wheel carrier, snorkel, high lift and wing top vents from them! I'm also going to get one of their winch bumpers when I have the money.

I have had to drill many holes in mine, the first couple hurt, but it gets easier!!

My dog guard was from them… it's a perfect match to the Corris grey, was really pleased with it… and unlike my last one, it has brackets that unscrew so it drops out which is handy…

They should be giving a discount code, that you can share with me ;)

I prefer the LR towing eyes (see below) but as you have already pointed out, they don't work with the air-con grill.

The Flat Dog steering guard is actually the well respected Mantec one which was a LR option for many years (I believe the current LR one uses the same brackets but with a different blade?). It is very well made and at 8mm the blade is thicker than some other alloy types. The bracket is 1-piece and unlike some cheaper ones has a steel support running the full width of the blade. It also sits slightly further back and isn't so "in your face" as some which finish flush with the front of the bumper.

I bought one from Flat Dog just a few weeks ago (alloy finish blade, not the black one) and at £125 they were the best price by far but their service is awful and there is no-way I could recommend them.
Fitting was a breeze, I had read how some people struggle with the universal picture type instructions but I had no problems whatsoever. I did wonder at the part where it says to remove the grill as I completed the whole installation without needing to get behind it at all? I only wish the steel bracket was galvanised instead of powder coated (there were some chips on it when I unpacked it) but I will take it off next year and have it dipped along with some other parts.

That's interesting and good to know... I had great customer service from them when I've dealt with them before... Suppose everyone has a bad experience that puts them off some place or other, mine was craddocks sending me the wrong items for an entire order  and taking a while to respond and refund

FD have been fine with me. Though I have only done one order.

The one you linked to on FB Rosie is different to the one on the website isn't it?
