Hi all, I hav a 54 plate 2004 freelander td4 sport with 123k and I'm loving it! Had a few 4x4's but by far this is the best 1 iv has!

The problem I'm having is, when I start her in the morning it starts but it's struggling 2 tick over 4 the first 5 seconds but then comes alright and she's fine after that! There is a puff of blue smoke when I starts but that's all doesn't smoke again even under load no smoke and drives fine! So could the puff of smoke in the the morning hav somthing 2 do with the starting problem?

Also there's a tapping noise from the engine till it's warm then it's fine, but u do hear it again if u go above 3000rpms is that normal or is somthing up? She pulls fine in all gears and is good on fuel!

Any help would n great thanks Garry

Hi sounds as if you have faulty injector(s) and I would suggest you look at these first.

I've seen the clamps broken holding an injector in causing a similar issue as well so worth a quick check of that first then a leak back check and if possible injector balance check using diagnostic equipment such as T4 or Autologic

do not buy ones that are for a auto as I believe they are differently set up

+1

Not sure why. Is it they let in more fuel to help with the losses in the transmission. I mean there must be some, as the auto adds 3 seconds to the 0-60 time. That's forever :D
