Hi All ,
Can someone give me a tip ??
2005 TD4 ,if turned off after reaching the normal engine temperature and
started again still being at working temp.it runs for 2-3 seconds and dies !!
If i wait for a couple of minutes start again ,runs perfect ???????
Some kind of Temp problem ????????
but WOT ?????
Very Grateful for any answers.

maybe worth looking at the cam position sensor on the top of the engine, that seems to suffer from temperature related issues.

Thanks for the info,i had a word with LR here in Germany ,they said probably injecters !!
anyway i asked a price for the camshaft sensor,they want €140 for it !!
Soooo i got the sensor out and see there a BMW number on it .So went around the
corner to the local dealer and was told....This sensor is the same as what you find in
X3 X5 6cylinder and 4cylinder models, Art. Nr. identicle !!!!!!
Comes tomorrow morning....cost €87
I will let you know how things go.
Apart from all that,there is also a new type of breather valve which replaces the old one.
They said it does not need to be renued just checked ?!

Hi,
Just wanted to mention,i fitted the new camshaft position sensor, went
for a 30km run. I have stopped and started the engine many times and
ALL IS WELL !!!!!!!!!
I hope things stay this way , two weeks ago the generator went down the
hill only having 40,000 km and being from 2005 !!

The breather valve you mention is the crankcase breather filter. The old style was just that, a filter acting as an oil separator. Trouble was, the filter blocked, and sent the crankcase pressure sky high which then blew out the dip stick. oil everywhere, and no oil pressure so usually killed the turbo too. The new style is a true oil separator, which just needs cleaning every so often. There is a thread on here somewhere with pictures of the two parts.

Can the breather be cleaned? I just changed mine to a new unit which cause oil to leak at the turbo area.:)
