Hi all was wondering if anyone could help!! My wife's car is a 2005 freelander
Sport premium 3dr and has the 18inch alloys! I was wondering if it would be ok to put smaller rims or 16inch with all terrain tyres on it or would it cause problems to the suspension!! If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

no probs with the suspension....the sport was 30mm lower than standard but apaprt from the exactly the same as all the others.
 
That's great thanks for replying! So you think I can put standard 16 inch freelander wheels strait on it without causing any probs!!

will alter your speedo reading, but you can use a tyre calculator at most tyre sights to check the speed variation so you can drive to compensate;)

As long as the circumference of the tyre is close to being the same it won't affect it. Wheel size has almost no bearing on speed, tyre size does.
 
Thanks for info guys! Was wondering if I could increase the profile of the tyre from 235/50/18 to possibly 235/65/18 or even higher just to give a bit more softness off road!!

It just strikes me as amusing that a freelander driver wants a bit of erm softness off road .....................:hysterically_laughi
 
The ground that I cover deer stalking is very rocky and need a bit more profile in the tyres for softness and keep the original tyre size if not will upgrade to a set of 16s with bf good riches on them. Thanks for the comments!!

Joking aside....

Why a Freelander in a place where ground clearance would be advantageous :confused:
 
It's not the clearance that's the problem it's the terrain that's very rocky and need a bit more profile in the tyres to gain softness over terrain! I use the Landy 90 for fox control but for some reason the freelander has better handling at the place I to the deer stalking! Don't ask me why cause don't know it's the wife's car and to be honest it's a good one!

It'll be because of the Freelanders transmission and TC but dont tell anyone I said so ;)

Lol Landy 90 gets me places the freelander don't go! And more of a rough motor but all slating freelanders aside this one I got the wife has been a great motor! Cheers for your info! Regards dunkyboy

Dont the deer hear you coming in a freelander? Surely stalking on foot would be better. :D
