Most speedo's aren't accurate
My mate put big monster style wheels and tyres on his Defender and now his speedo runs true to the sat navs speed which is accurate

May be worth doing a run with the sat nav to compare actual speed with the speedo reading.
Bigger tyres may result in actually driving at the speed the speedometer shows

Very true.

My oversize 235/55 17s make my speedo nearly bang on.

With the original 225/55 17s the speedo was the usual 5% over-optimistic.

most cars speedos read higher than actual speed, usually 4-5mph higher,on there standard wheels/tyres,learned this on my training courses years ago and sat nav does confirm this;)
