Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a problem I am having with my 2001 k-series, petrol engine. I only brought this car recently for pretty cheap and it had the HGF classically associated with this engine type, so I decide to set about replacing the gasket, whilst replacing this I also changed the water pump, thermostat and cam belt as well as the inlet manifold gasket.
The freelander has been working well before the change (apart from overheating due to HGF) there have been no misfires or anything unusual. However after I put the engine back together and took it for a small drive it developed an issue where it is misfiring and not starting properly, now it struggles to start and needs some gas to get going and then eventually it will just cut out again. I am guessing that it is something I have moved or a dodgy connection that is causing the problem.
I have plugged it into a fault finder machine which has returned the following fault codes -
PO340 - Camshaft position sensor "A" circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor Malfunction)
P0300 - Random / Multiple cylinder misfire detected.
P0313 - Misfire detected with low fuel.
I am guessing the last two fault codes are related to the first, I have put some more fuel in the tank to see if maybe there would be some sort of resolution, however I am also not sure if the system is pressurising properly. Any help would be much appreciated, maybe someone has seen a similar problem after replacing the head gasket??
Thanks.
