Around my village the rivers are prone to flooding the roads, something i was wondering was how deep can the freelander 2.0TD4 go through floodwater? and what stops the water going into the FBH? any advice welcome:)

i cant believe it tops out at 400mm are you haveing a laff...:confused::confused::confused:

It's to stop em getting their wellies wet:D

wading.jpgMy handbook says 16" basic wading depth but then goes on about building a bow wave if any deeper. Doesn't say when it will drown even with a wave.

The " official " wading depths are pretty miserly for a discovery or Defender too!

Wading depth for a Defender, and everywhere else until the Discovery 3 is 20".
I make that only 4" more than the Freelander.

If wading in a Freelander, don't worry about the doors, but check the back brakes afterwards

Because the Freelander is made from space age materials it is light, it will float long before the water gets anywhere near the engine intake .

Turds float anorl, bet they could wade deeper than a freelander though;)

Oh aye had 600mm in me head for some reason. Probably cos I've been putting a roof on a new build extension and joist spacing & OSB sheets is 600mm width

It depends what your wading through,

My doors stayed on, but my alternator and water pump fell off.

... And my point is that we know an unmodified Defender or disco can wade a darn sight deeper than the official figures, and in the same way the official wading depth for the Freelander is to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Absolutely, and style is everything too.

This for example, is wrong...

It was fun though!

Goonarmy alludes to a Camel mod which would be easy to replicate...
