You should have full continuity (0 ohms or very close to it) between any earth cable (not always black) and chassis. Always make sure you clean the area of the chassis you are testing to or try and find a clean bolt that is passing through the chassis, to test to.

Erm not got a Freebie manual to hand but would have thought fuse for your blower should be a direct feed from the battery?

So no voltage at fuse 4 says open circuit to me ............

We're u able to get these lights working? What was the issue? I'm currently having this same problem with my freelander. Cheers!
This is a four year old thread so the OP hasn't been seen since his last post here. I take it you're having the same problem? Have you tried replacing the switch?

Hi guys and galls, new to this forum so hello!

I have a head ache with my 2004 TD4. The two cluster brake lights at the back wont work. Now I know its not the brake switch as the top brake light above the spare wheel works. I know its not the bulbs as I have replaced them, and the rear fogs light them up anyway. Its a total mistery to me. Obviously I have checked the fuses etc. all fine ??

Such a strange one.

Any help appreciated, cheers.

O.k. I am a little shocked some Freelander owners do not know this. All Freelanders shipped to the U.S. have 3 working brake lights. The center above the tire and the 2 in the bumper. The ones on either side of the tailgate ( the ones you would expect to work ) do not light with the brakes. I know, odd. So if you are expecting to see the normal lights in the rear to work you will be waiting for a while and chase a problem with no answer. To date there is no explanation as to why these are disabled on U.S. versions. It took me some digging as to why mine were not working before I found this explanation. So yes, chasing grounds, bulbs, shorts, switches, and aliens living in your normal brake lights will come to no avail. You cannot fix it if it is not broken Sorry if you spent hours chasing down this non issue. If anyone can find out why they turned these off in I.S. versions please let me know.

Oh, all this explained there is no reason that with a little edgenuity this cannot be fixed (or unfixed depending on your point of view) If you want your non brake lights to be brake lights then anything is possible

The brake lights are in the bumper, along with the tail lights and indicators. The lights each side of the rear door are for fog and reverse.
Nothing odd or different, it's like that on purpose.
