have bought a 2004 v6 Freelander which is fine but getting ancient and need comfier front seat. Can anyone suggest what I can fit? Non electric at present. Cheers

You'll struggle to find better seats that actually fit. Freelander's are know for how good there seats are. 2004 isn't that old for a Freelander. There's many about that are much older than that. ;)

Thanks for responding. Guess I'll have to live with them as they are. Sides stick into me a bit. Need to slim perhaps!!!

I reckon the Freelander seats are very closely related to the Rover 200‘s - and there the Rover 25 and MG ZR. At leat, that’s what my back tells me: the back rest on my Pre-facelift FL1 has the same feel as our Rover 214SLi from the 1990s.

The ZR has much better seats IMO. BUT I really no idea how the seat bases differ...

If the passenger seat is in better condition (they usually are), you could swap the cover & pads over between the passenger and drivers seats. They are slightly different but fit well, the only visible sign that they've been changed is 2 screw holes visible on each cover next top the hand brake.

Alternatively, get a matching drivers seat cover/pads from a breakers. They usually are not in the best condition though, or already sold - so you can get a passenger one from a breakers - as said though - you'll end up with 2 visible screw holes. You can cut material from old seat to slot behind so that the holes are not so visible.

There's some discussion on the What have you done thread from here...

Pre-facelift Freelander 1s have different seats to the post-facelift ones. They are flatter as they don't have the side bolsters like the ones in your car. The leather ones wear very well so you could find an older car to get the seats from like I did:
