Fitting spacers increases the wheelbase adding for more clearance or in my own case... getting rid of a SIGNIFICANT amount of body roll when cornering. The freelander drives a lot nicer with a 38mm spacer fitted to the standard wheels and as it's no race car, i don't think worrying about scrub radius is really an issue compared to better riding comfort, and a much less wimpy look. In fact, i reckon the tighter turning circle is a beneficial change to the steering geometry. Unless i've missed something extra about spacers that's really bad?
