A couple of years ago I brought my wifes discovery 300tdi into the owrkshop to do some brakes... That quickly grew not so much arms and legs as a pair of sills, and a huge order of body repair sections and welding supplies. 11 months later it went up for MOT

Not my idea of fun, which is why I like the FL1.

Some interesting post here.
I briefly owned a FL1 but the unreliable fuel system of the TD4 and slow auto has got me looking at FL2s.

Seems both benefit from a lift for off-roading but I’m yet to see a Freelander beached when I’ve been out shooting or whatever. I think a lift is only needed if you’re off-roading to intentionally test a vehicle or driver. Which is fair enough but then will any landy be high enough?

Both my F1 & F2 (Autos) are perfectly capable offroad on wet grass/steep grassy banks/thick mud/pulling the chicken run around the field/hauling caravans up muddy wet slopes etc.all on road tyres. For fun days/Forests/Quarries/etc We used the S11A V8 Lightweight on Mud Pluggas - but don't do that any more so don't need it and it's sold (sniffsniff) - anything approaching forestry tracks or pulling out tree stumps etc I use the David Brown 880 Implematic - no messing.
It's horses for courses. Both Freelanders are brilliant at what they do.
