Hi,

I am looking at putting a new set of tyres on my 2002 td4, would anyone be able to tell me if the kumho kl78 215/80/15 would fit?

Thanks in advance

andy

My 2003 Td4 has 215/65x16 fitted as standard.

The closest 15" tyre to this is the 215/70x15 which has a 0.56% (smaller) difference in overall diameter to mine.
Next is the 195/80x15 which has a 1.03% (larger) difference.
A 215/75x16 comes in at 2.5% (larger)

The 215/80x15 you propose has a 5.4% (larger) difference which is starting to get a little more overgeared & means your speedo will underread as well.

what do u mean by over geared? is it likely to casue damage or rub?

Would give you a false reading on your spedo, going faster than what spedo reads. so possible to get a speeding ticket going.example spedo reads 70mph and you are doing77mph:rolleyes:

arrr right , will the tyres fit on the alloys though? and will they rub? as the standard size is 195/80/15

Just measure the diameter of the tire and if they are with in a inch should work. But what you should do is go to your lr look at the front tyres and see what clearance you have in the wheel arch at the front and back of the tyre them turn full lock left and right to get idea hoe much clearance you have. You have to make your own decision of what will work or not

so does it have 15 or 16 inch wheels as you have stated both mate.

Wasn't him that mentioned the 16" wheels, it was me. That's what most standard Td4's (like mine) came with & I was using mine as a reference comparison for the overall diameter to give him an idea of how his proposed tyre change would compare to standard.

Mine's got 17s... standard. Tyres on mine are good, but been recommended Goodyears or Michelins for next time....

was hoping someone may have fitted them in the past with no problems

Just curious, but why do you want to fit the 80 profile tyre when the 70 profile is closest to standard. Is it cost or do you want the larger diameter for some reason?

I run 215/75/15 general tires AT on my freelander commercial, no issues with rubbing and havent modified at all. I also carry a lot of weight in the backand tow 1.7 tons often and I have no issues with the tyre rubbing anything. Hope this helps
