I've got two discos to collect from a farm near Ribchester. One, the 300TDi, needs taking to my house in Bamber Bridge (just south of Preston - about 12 miles) whilst the other is payment for moving that vehicle from Ribchester to BB (Bamber Bridge not Blue Beasty :D) i.e. you get the 2nd car for doing the moving! :) I've basically been given 2 discovery mk1 cars both of which are MOT failures and have been parked up for a couple of years. They are in a pitiful state but the basics are there i.e. axles, props, transfer box, gearbox and 200TDi engine plus 4 crap wheels and the body which you can weigh in. I want the 300TDi as I have a 300TDi defender already.

I was supposed to collect these weeks ago but my mate with the recovery abilities has been working non stop and his cut was the 200TDi.

I'm hoping that they are still available, if they are I need to know that I have an alternative person able to recover both (and keep one as payment).

What YOU need to be able to do:

The farm track is passable only in a 4x4, is quite steep and pot holed and the cars are in two yards that are more like bomb sites. Both cars are in a right state having been left so not really safe to just tow either, they would be best winched onto some kind of trailer having pulled them up the track to the flatter area. You need to have access to a vehicle trailer and be able to winch a discovery onto it then off at the other ends. We move the 300TDi first then go back and collect the 200TDi which you can then do what you like with.

I'm looking at doing this 2nd/3rd August afternoon IF they are still available, just waiting for confirmation.

Any pics? I may know someone interested :)

Nope. It's a shedly old mk1 disco 200TDi that failed it's MOT on welding about 2 years ago. Since then it's been sat in a farm yard and it's got a bit damp and smelly.... The reality is that this is a chassis and running gear with a few salvageable plastic bits etc. It did drive to it's current location. Some parts might have been removed but it's worth a punt for a bit of time. Certainly worth it for a couple of hours work. Even if you just dragged it to the salvage yard the metal is worth £250+

Im trying to get a hold of him, like you say for a few hours work it makes sense. Ill let you know if not, obviously dont hold me to it and let anyone else help if they can.

We are just up the road so I think it would be a fun day out

The engine / gearbox / transfer box / axles alone are worth plenty then weigh in the rest..... Should be good for whoever is able to assist in this. My 300TDi disco is EITHER going to create a series/300TDi coil spring hybrid OR a lot of spare parts!

Still no result, will see if I know anyone else today

Swop the free one for a welder. Yer gonna need a good welder. :pound:

I've got a good welder already :D The disco isn't being fixed as they are both well past that! They are two collections of defender spares attached to a load of scrap metal :)

The plan was to go with the first person able to give me a definite yes and a definite "I have everything we need".......

So on that basis Phil from Preston has a trailer, winch and 4x4 with tow bar which is everything we need. There are about 14 wheels and a 110 defender roof as well so plenty of bits :D

Have fun, wish I could have fixed it up

Thanks.

You'd be even more naffed off as I've just had a message that the "free" 200TDi starts and drives! Bonus all round.....

The 300TDi turns over but I've not had chance to stick a decent battery on it yet.
