oh get a grip it's a few ton of rusting steel - would you risk your house and your ability to keep your kids warm and fed just for a old landy

let it go and just be happy it's still all in one piece

No one is saying risk living in a tent or send the kids on the game.

IMO tellin the dealer how you know it and your story wont make any difference to him... he is a business man after all. If you go and have a look at it you will be ****ed off for ever.....if you cannot afford to bring it home.... if you are absolutely certain there is no way you can afford it dont go look at it... dont go on ebay till the auction ends. :)

Im taking it you had the "ideal start" in life then, some things are more than the constituents of their parts.

each to their own, i was just offering my view point from somebody with a similar sentimental bent when it comes to missing dads.

and if 2 and half grand is going to risk the kids going hungry and losing the house, then things are already pretty bad, i know what i would do.

get real, do you think everyone is able to drop 2K5 with no notice and it not have any affect on their ability to "live"

it's a old land rover he'd be buying not a new kidney for a child FFS

i havnt got the money to buy it, ive got some savings but the reason weve been living in a caravan for 2 years is to save up for a house. its not fare really on my partner who has also been saving up and paying debts off. she knows it means a lot to me but he wouldnt want me to skint ourselves to buy it, things are a bit hard at the minute. maybe memories are best left as memories, it would frustrate the hell out of me if i wasnt able to bring her home or return her into her former glory

now if that was the choice, then i could see your point, but buy the 90 sell the disco, scrimp in the middle, i reckon its worth a punt.

sadly we cant all be as pragmatic as you.

maybe we all don't think being down to our last 2k5 in the bank is so close to the end of the world as you

hey sell a kidney

2.5 k would cripple us at the minute, now ive had a few hour thinking about it im gunna leave it and live the memories. at least ive got his love for landrovers, and i hope whoever buys her treats her well. yes you will all say what a waste of 5 years looking for it. but its not coz ive found it and shes still alive which is more than what i had yesterday

looks like sense has ruled the day.

enjoy a wallow whilst you can mate, now back to reality;)

ive worked really hard to get the disco and the other landys ive had, ant done bad to say i started with a 400quid quad bike and 2 years later from swapping and selling ive got a nice td5 disco with spending little money. he wouldnt want me to risk loosing what ive got for something that would drain the little savings weve got

hey mate, ok fair enough you dont have the money now....still, you could go to the dealer, tell him the story and leave your details for the future owner who'll buy the 90

ask the dealer to pass your details to the new owner and if it comes to a time where they are going to sell it, to contact you first...

who knows, in a couple of years time you might be in the position where you could buy it..

I would go to see it, have a good test drive to appreciate what your dad did. I would take loads of pics for the memories, THEN tell the dealer the story and get them to pass on your details.

You will have some more memories - "I drove my dads Landy",plus pics and maybe video as well.

I do understand, my dad died when I was aged 8, and he had a lambretta, I would love to see that again, but I don't even know the reg.

I lost my dad in March and I try to keep some things of his around, even silly things like a keyring on my keys so I've always got something of his with me. It's a horrible situation you're in by finding it because even if you could manage to get it it'd be with you for the rest of your life too, never being able to bring yourself to part with it.

I suppose in a way I'm lucky that my dad only left behind a knackered 52 plate mondeo estate with a goosed ecu that would cost as much as the car is worth to replace, it's still sitting in the mechanics yard though, got to try and find the silver lining in every cloud, eh?

Follow your heart, you only live once and regrets will haunt you. My child was one that was painful-but steeled me. Do what you have to do

It looks quite tidy for 2.5K, worth a look for sure, although not sure about the 2.8 engine size:confused:

Look at the first post ;)
Think my uncle did the same mod in his 83/84 110, that was a beast with it's side stack lol

i know i cant afford to buy it at the minute even though they do finance hmmm. i would settle just for a look and maybe a test drive, more memories would be great even more now i know a 90 inside out. i would be able to see the work he did on the engine and fittin the seats that are still in it
