Hi, Has anyone put a Ford 3.0 V6 into a 1989 110?
My landy currently has a 2.5td but is a bit lathargic, it has done 140,000 miles but it is crap up hills even with turbo whistling away. I know of a 3.0 V6 for sale out of an old scimitar with all ancillaries for a good price. With the cost of diesel going up and up daily, i thought about putting a petrol engine in and then putting lpg on it.
If anyone or you know of anyone who has done this transplant i would like to know if it is possible, will it mate upto the landy gearbox and is this a difficult job to do, any body mods etc etc.
Cheers

way better off with a tdi, even with a LPG kit a petrol V6 in a defender will most probably be more expensine to run than a diesel and certainly less reliable - as well as the cost to change, the mods needed to go from diesel to petrol, the unreliability of dodgy lpg conversions etc. Source a cheap disco TDI and run it on biodiesel or something similar, it will be a far better option.

Thanx 4 reply lads, If i decide to go the disco tdi route, what is involved and exactly what parts are required.
But should i go the V8, which one 3.5 0r 3.9 , and again what would be needed to complete the job, Would V8 marry up to the LT 77 landy gearbox?.

Any response more than welcome.

I don't know about a 100 but my mate put one into a series 3 SWB without too much hassle. I shouldn't imagine it is much different putting one into a 110. He just had to fabricate some engine mounts.
