Do you know much about changing the gearbox oil filter Gary?
Local Indi wants £345 to do oil and filter change on the gearbox.
Looking on eBay parts seem to vary between £200 and £300 so not sure if I’m better just throwing at them instead of buying parts and IR temperature reader and doing it on the drive

hi mate

doesn’t seem a bad price ref ur gearbox , but may i ask plse

1) is it the metal or plastic gearbox pan / will the replacement be the conversion pan or the original design plse
2) what Atf oil will they be using
3) does it include replacing the vacuum control sleeve
4) for the adaptive settings to be reset via a diagnostic reader

thks

for me , i would never power flush my gearbox or engine out

but of course down to the individual

All they really do is pump the oil out and refill with new oil, they make it seem more glamorous but thats it in a nutshell.

If you look on the D3 forum for Filo gearbox he does an excellent write up on diy gearbox flushing, I copied his idea oil out and in but just used an oilsafe pump rather than pressurise the petrol can that he used, simple and clean.

also seen that great write up and will do it like that , like the idea of the manual pump to make life easier

know many get there gearboxes or engines flushed out but would always worry ref seals , or pushing junk around the entire system before its flushed out

I think nowadays with modern oils thats not really going to happen, due to leaks we sometimes drop the sumps on the trucks and yes its back but clean black and never ever any debris in the sump.

Lots of good information there that I did not know.
Will have to look into it in more detail.

Gonna go in the back burner for a bit ans still got flickering light problem even with led’s fitted so reckon I’m looking at a new battery on payday.
IID tool as well if I can stretch to it

glad it’s of some use to u

did u want to re run fresh through the interior light problem , to see if we can pin it down

ref the iid , get the bluetooth version and once u have one u will think how u ever managed

only for to plug it in 10 x times and it’s paid for itself and a great bit of kit , they do come up second hand but have to be very quick

All the lights both interior, side lights and dash lights pulse dim when on idle.
Headlights dim when headed screen is switched on.
“Secret” menu shows voltage dropping to under 12v with multiple electrical systems running.
New alternator appears to be working properly so for me it’s pointing to the battery being knackered.

Yes was looking at the Bluetooth version. One came up on D3 forum for £300 but sold in a couple of hours.

thks, try this and have a pen and paper reader

with a multimeter , check the volts at the pos and neg posts on the battery

1 ) with the engine off
2) engine running at tickover with no electrics on

3) with the engine still running , turn every electrical item on then raise it to 2000 revs

plse let me know what the volts readings are , many thks

as a side note

12.4 VDC indicates a fully charged battery,
12.2 VDC is considered 50-percent charged
any reading below 12.0 volts indicates a dead battery.

whilst cranking the engine the voltage on the multimeter should not dip below 10.0 VDC

A reading below 10.0 VDC when starting is a sign the battery is not producing enough current to reliably handle the starter motor's current draw.
