If the car is post 1999, it should have the coil on the ignition barrel for passive re-sync.
The FOB uses a rolling code and it's possible that interference from a transmitter at the petrol station could cause loss of sync if the car has the earlier RF receiver.
The Vehicle is a 1996 2.5 DT I have the problem in one or two other places, not always where you'd think there was interference (if that's possible these days).
I'm going to plead ignorance when it comes to the passive immobilisation, never heard of it before, it's only recently started doing this, and I've had the car 10 years or so. I'm not sure about pressing the open button to start engine either I'm afraid, the fob didn't appear to be having any affect on the vehicle until I re-synced it.

Passive immobilisation started in 1996. TA316176 and up. But leaving keys in ignition with ignition off at a petrol station or anywhere else with a strong WIFI signal can cause the fob to loose sync.

If the FOB has lost sync, it will not work until re-synced. Your car does not have the coil round the ignition barrel to auto re-sync. Check the RF receiver in the offside rear quarter under the plastic lanel that holds the rear parcel shelf, if it's the MK1 or MK2 it is susceptible to interference from many sources.

If the VIN number is later than in previous post it does have the passive coil.

All this electronic security seems a waste of time to me, owners seem to have no end of bother getting into and starting thier cars but thieves don't seem to have any problem. I never bother locking either of my landys.

I don't think many locked P38s get stolen to be honest.

Most of the security can be turned off in the BECM with diagnostics.

Haven't you got enough problems with the one you've got.?;):D

Nowt wrong with mine but spare parts are always useful. That said, I am swapping the transfer box out as a precautionary measure this weekend so it might be fecked by Sunday.

How are you feeling? Bit better?
