apologies, should have said, mean the interior lights being too bright

i did by mistake mix up an interior led with a sidelight led, and thought christ almighty , my eyes, my eyes , lol

was all part of learning where some had more leds than others, didn’t know that when i first looked at them
I like mine as bright as possible, at least the one in the boot, although maybe not *that* bright :p
And yes I've learnt about those LED chips whilst doing my cluster bulbs, with the bulbs with only the LED chip on top you could see where the bulbs were through the speedo, then I got the bulbs like the ones about with LED chips all round and it spreads the light much more evenly.

indeed, it was a case for me to learn how they differed

just posted a link in my previous post and see what u think plse, they look like the right ones

i had that with leds req on the end of the bulbs , for showing up heater dials properly

plus please may i also add

Do NOT , repeat, NOT , fit this type of bulb with a metal surround , they can short out

tried one and it it burnt out my interior light and ending up having to buy a new one

u have been warned :rolleyes::rolleyes:

just looking at these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T10-CAR-B...hash=item236a1c4bc2:m:mRJhpw8M2z52NRLGKN3VOyg

is good as u can select more leds for sidelights if u wish

they look like there the right ones

Look like they would do the trick. So 5 led for interior and 9 led for exterior?

Want to replace the front side light bulbs and reverse too if I can though thinking they will be a different bulb.

Quite like the door bulbs that put the Land Rover logo on the ground too.

They look they'd work just great.

And +1 on the metal surrounds, tried them in a toyota hilux, but just blew the fuse luckily, with the price on those jap parts :p

Guess I would go 5 inside, I cant really say because my d2 takes the longer type bulbs with 3 chips on them, but they could go brighter so 5 it is.
I used 5 in my exterior but I'd imagine 9 would do just fine, they were bright enough for me.
I replaced my reverse lights on the d2 with LED, cant remember what bulb but will most likely be different anyway, and for the record they were complete sh*t :p

I thought those landy logo bulbs were so cool... untill I realised a d2 doesnt have them haha, go for it though and let us know what they are like.

can’t remember how many leds were on the bulb when i fitted them for my sidelights, they are the same type of bulb for the sidelights just need more leds on the bulb

would have thought 9x leds would be suitable

indeed also have to be error free can-bus bulbs , otherwise can cause all sorts of issues

Just wondering, I may have read somewhere before and not sure if its just a d2 thing, but replacing indicator/brake bulbs with LED's messes up the built in towing light check thing?.. that trailer light on the dash that shows when indicating with a trailer on..if that makes any sense o_O

Just had a reply back from Tayna ref my failing battery, they want me to package it up and send it back to them at my cost, fair enough but that means no car as no battery and I only have their word for it whatever they find, so from now on its slag off Tayna at every oppurtunity:D

Just reading another recent thread on the D3 forum and the Yuasa silver or black version from Halfords is the way to go if you have a trade card and of course best of all if you have issues you can take the car there for them to test it.
So thats my next plan.

blimey mate that’s going to cost isn’t it

wonder if anyone from the forum may be able to ferry it for u , where are they based

good idea ref other batteries , for me i think i would return to varta , always been happy with them, wouldn’t buy another exide

however plse let me know if u do decide to get a yuasa and what u think of them , many thks

Standard procedure returning items that go faulty within the warranty period and were purchased on line, I often wonder what the story is when returning an iffy battery, but my belief is that fortunately batteries purchased online are just as reliable as those purchased locally so not an issue, you seem to be the first.

I haven't read Tanya's t&c's but I assume the returning procedure is stated. Hopefully you will be fully reimbursed for the cost returning the battery when it's found to faulty.

So when you changed the interior bulbs did you also do all the bulbs behind the dials and radio controls etc Gary?

as far as i’m aware none of the dashboard/ centre bulbs can be replaced, nor have i heard of them being replaced , so if i’m honest didn’t bother looking

i only done Leds for the interior lights, glove boxes , boot, sidelights

Ah right ok cool. Well I’ll order a set of the 5 led ones in your link.
Pack of 10 will cover the interior bulbs plus I’ll get 4 puddle lights with the Land Rover logo on them.

That should cover the inside and I might even treat myself to a pair of 9 led bulbs for the side lights. Don’t suppose if anyone knows if they will fit the mirror puddle lights too?

great stuff, plse let us know what there like , thks

i think there the same for the puddle lights , but will try and find out for u

not being rude have u got an owners manual, only reason i say that is there’s a list of all the bulbs

Yes will do once I get them.
Will order them and report back.

Did not even think to look, will dig it out and see what I can find

Im pretty certain Ive killed it with my short commutes, so Im sure they will say Ive deep cycled it to many times and knackered it.

Little update on this.
Last weekend I got round to replacing quite a few of the D3’s bulbs with LED’s.

That’s number plate, front side lights, most interior lights plus puddle lights.
Still got mirror down lights to do plus no plug attached to the foot well lights so will need to see where they have gone.

Also annoyingly the bulbs in the DVD player are different. Look like number plate bulbs with a metal connector at each end.
Anyone changed these before and know what I need to get?

However not solved my electrical problem. They still dim (well turn on and off) at engine idle.
Gonna get Halfords to test my battery at the weekend as I’m pretty sure that’s what’s wrong.

hate to tell u, but u know ur not allowed external LEDS in lamps that are designed to accept them , lol

quote

A similar issue exists for LED bulbs that are sold as upgrades. Pictured is a normal Halogen bulb, above an equivalent, LED conversion part. While these are legal to use within the interior, they are not permitted in any exterior lamp, at the time of writing. Like HID Conversion Kits, this is because the unit’s optics are designed to work with a filament bulb, not an LED type. Recently, a case was reported to us, where an insurance company turned down a claim, because a rear number-plate bulb was fitted with an LED conversion bulb. However, even reputable retailers sell these bulbs but they should be marked “for off-road use only.”

https://www.motoringassist.com/motoring-advice/news/avoid-fitting-illegal-led-light-bulbs-car/

plus , plse i don’t wish for this to come across as rude in any way , fitting more leds could have made the situation considerably worse

if the alternator is faulty it can take ur battery with it and cause untold issues

once again i didn’t want anything ive said to come across as rude , would just hate to see any damage being done

Duly noted, wasn’t aware of any of that legislation.
Got led’s in the number plates of every car we own between us lol.

Like I say will get the battery tested at the weekend as when the engine is running the battery reads a higher voltage which to me points to the alternator is charging it.
But only a guess as don’t have the proper equipment to test it.
