My Disco seems really gutless, whether its because I was used to driving a 4.2 or is it something else.. I have to drive it like a boy racer with alot of gear changes to get it to have any bottle as it really is a dog at times! Are they all like this or is it just mine. Its had a full service recently etc, but it is carrying a fair bit of weight with the external roll bars, winch n stuff..maybe this is the reason.

You cant compare a 4.2 to a diesel, what disco is it?

LOL, could be a 2.0 Mpi ... ;)

My 300 has benefitted greatly from removing the egr, tweaking the pump, removing the cat and centre silencer. Improved mpg when driven normally in traffic, greater power (and more fuel used) at any other time .. :) Especially useful for towing the caravan .. did 120 odd miles towing last weekend through Derbyshire and Peak District, didn't drop mpg's at all, but that's 'cos I didn't have to floor it everywhere as we used to!

Sorry to butt in Minxy,

PaulD what exactly did you do to get better performance?? I am intrigued and might now have a play with my engine like this (200tdi)!! :D:D:D

Mine's a 300 Tdi so probably much different ... but I followed this initialy ... Turning up the pre 94 Ram diesel injector pump ... but also referred to this .. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f38/uncle-charles-pump-timing-55111.html ... I'm sure there were a couple of toehr reference points when I tweaked it but I can't remember.

Biggest sole improvement to power was de-cat exhaust. De-egr 'cleaned it up' and smoothed it out, straight through centre pipe added small amount of power and noise, cleaning all the air pipes and intercooler also provided a much nicer feel when booting it, but also on tickover crawling .. ;)

ha I knew someone would say that!!!

Cheers JP, i know there are differences but jus wanted to get an idea of what I could do like you did to unlock some of that hidden away power!!
