I had mine delivered to Inverness which can't be that far from you if you are on the mainland and it wasn't worth going and collecting it. I can't remember what it cost offhand but I remember looking at it and the cost of the diesel alone was more than the delivery cost before accom and food never mind the time.
 
IIRC, (and I have slept a few times since), but IIRC they do, but it was stupid money as I am classed as a remote area, despite the fact I live on the mainland (IV40) and therefore surcharges apply with the carriers that they use :mad:
 
They do offer delivery but as said it is expensive, think they wanted about £300 - £350 for delivery to Southampton area. I got mine collected through my work for free.

How would "work" like a road trip to NW Scotland ?

LOL, just kidding, I'm a way off buying a Chassis yet, mine has another couple of years in it at least, and none of us can predict what's gonna happen in between ;)

I was honestly joking, but thanks, as I said earlier, I enjoy a good road trip when I can use a genuine reason to leave Mel here for a day or 2 ;)
We don't get out much atm because Mel's mum lives next door on our land. She is 90 and is very frail / mentally ill these days :(
 
So the Disco body finally started getting new metal in it today, but not before even more had to come out. The sills will be completely renewed inside and out. The body mounts at the rear of the sills will be replaced with new. The rear lower portion of the body will be framed and panelled to conform with the fibreglass rear panel with added strengthening around the body mounts. New inner wing sections will be added. The front body mounts and support assembly will be replaced. And various small patches as needed here and there.

Fair play mate, can't be much left of the original body after you're done can there? I will count myself lucky as the worst bit on mine is the inner wings .
On another note, what are the holes on your chassis like? I had to ream them out or re-tap the threaded holes
 
Thats what I had, thought they would have done it for the price of the thing. The marsland chassis for my 90 I did was all done, cost a third of a richards
 
Unfortunately Richards are the only ones doing a D2 chassis. Maybe that will change in the future as Defenders get more and more unaffordable.
 
The bodywork welding marathon progressed a couple more miles today. The floor and inner sill behind the B post on the drivers side now done. That means the rear frame can now be welded in so the lower lip is now in.

The rear frame is now complete and I've taken the opportunity to make an extra couple of bolt-in points for the rear panel by fitting it, drilling the required holes, taking it off again and welding a couple of nuts in place. The passenger side sill is completely removed (apart from the new section that was put in a day or so ago) and this has shown up how bad the body mount at the front of the sill is. So I'm ordering new body mounts for both sides. As you can maybe see from the photo of underneath there's also a small section of the footwell which will need repairing. Not a bad days work really.

None of this welding is mine apart from a few in the frame I made for the rear panel. All the bodywork is being done for me by someone who knows what they're doing with a mig welder.
