Morning guys, wife’s FL2 been good as gold since we’ve had it but yesterday we had a cold snap and it’s carried on today (bits of snow and stuff)

Came out to car in morning put key into slot and nothing , no dash lights at all other than immobiliser flashing.

Foot on clutch nothing (only the fuel pump priming)

Take foot off clutch and hold no dash lights.

Radio works etc, I’ve ran a earth cable to eliminate that, I’ve also connected up my car via jump leads to eliminate battery (battery readings are fine anyway as it’s fairly new!

I’ll add picture of codes I’m getting just trying to work out if it was a steering lock problem it’s wouldn’t stop dash light up would it??

At a complete loss with this one, I have heard story’s of cold weather problems.

Any help would be great..
 
Been wiggling the steering wheel all morning 😑

If it is the steering lock stuck would that stop the dash lighting up though?
 
There are devices that simulate/trick it into thinking the steering lock is off but I wouldnt go down that route. Perhaps the grease in the steering lock has gone thicker in the cold? Try a fan heater on it see if that helps.
 
Yes neither fobs are doing it, dock takes and ejects key no problem.

Will get hair dryer on it now, it is really cold to be honest so it doesn’t like something.

Would the steering lock stop dash illuminating though?
 
Are you sure the battery is good?
I say that as I know these cars are really fussy about the battery, and power hungry. You have a crash input code showing, which AFAIK can be caused by the battery power falling too low. Couple this with very cold weather…?
 
Yeah I know what you’re saying as that’s what I thought but I’ve had my car hooked up to it also and it still can’t even light the dash up.

It’s definitely had no crash , well not in the last 18 months or so anyway.
 
Dead battery in fob should only affect remote locking. When it is in the dock it’s powered by the car. (Bit like a contactless phone charger)
 
Until you get the steering lock off and the immobiliser light stops flashing, you will not get any further. It won’t take much from the battery to do that.
 
It's had battery issues, which is why there's a code for crash, and lost communication.
Check the wiring at the CJB, under the glove box, and make sure the battery is 100% charged.
It's likely the steering lock itself which has failed, which will prevent all drive systems from booting up.

Try another battery or jump pack, just in case the 'load' is messing the battery voltage ...

Is there any water ingress that may have played a part ?
 
Right ok so can eliminate the key fobs.

No water ingress was hoovered out a day or so before (Tuesday) but drove fine Wednesday.

Just put battery on kindly from my neighbours ranger and still exactly the same so think we can eliminate that also.

If the steering lock has completely failed, then yes it can stop everything required to start the engine from working.
The steering lock is part of the immobiliser system, which is integrated into several modules, including the Ipack, key dock, CJB, ECM and ABS module. All these modules communicate to approve the start request, so if one isn't passing the run request on, then it won't work.
It's also worth checking for blown fuses in both the engine bay and CJB fuse boxes, just incase a fuse has failed.
 
I will do footwell fuses in morning I did engine bay earlier and all ok but bailed on footwell as it was hailing and car is sat near a puddle and can’t move it so figured I’d wait.

Interesting on steering lock as I thought it would still illuminate dash and give a message but guess there’s not set way of things failing.

I’ve got a steering lock emulator coming tomorrow in the hope of narrowing things down.

Maybe the cold weather finished it off
 
I have read somewhere of someone drilling a hole into the steering column casing and then spraying silicone lubricant into the steering lock but it sounded a bit extreme to me. As I recall when mine jammed once in the past. Putting the key in the dock turned on the power to the radio and satnav but as Nodges said not to anything required to run the engine. I spent about 2 days studying the schematics before I realised that the steering lock disables the immobiliser. Hence my comment get the steering lock off before you can move any further. I think there’s one fuse in the foot well fuse box that could stop it but if the radio is operating and the key docks then that must be okay.
 
On mine, the module that connects to the OBD connector that allows you to check for fault codes is also disabled by the immobiliser which is why I was surprised you could access fault codes. Are you sure these are not old fault code stored by your reader?
