Hey all

Firstly....
FL2 2008 HSE (all possible electrical toys (to go wrong....)) auto diesel

After coming to a halt on a busy but fortunately local road yesterday evening, I discovered the auxiliary belt I renewed in January had been shredded.
So, going through the process of auxiliary belt and cps removal (assuming the cps was whacked in the process) I saw that the alternator pulley was well out of alignment....see pic...well, that shredded the belt !!

I noticed a slight squeak a couple of days ago....but wasn't consistent. It did have a good day's work on Bodmin Moor the day it died....honourable I suppose :)

My query is, has anyone else suffered this 'sliding out' of the pulley shaft...??

Future thanks to all

Wil

I presume that's 1 of the new(ish) fandango pulleys with a clutch.

I don't know what's gone wrong with it, but they're so much betterer than old pulleys with no clutch and nothing to go wrong.

Hey Grumpy,

Yes, I wasn't sure whether it had a fandango anti-slip clutch thingy !! on the pulley but will find out tomorrow when I get it off....

Will report any findings.....🧐

Well replaced alternator, belt CPS and then finally the throttle body....after air path calibration and a squirt of easy start she fired :D
Haven't looked into the old alternator problem yet...🧐 but glad to have wheels back !!

Til the next time

If the pulley is still at an odd angle like the picture above, you need to sort that before driving the car.
