Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help shed some light on a traction control problem on my recently purchased fl1. Basically I have no traction control! When I brought the vehicle the previous owner had already removed the vcu and props leaving it in mondo mode, but included with the paperwork for the car is a receipt for two new front driveshafts, fitted by previous owner two months before I brought it. Im wondering if this could be connected to why I have no tc.... I think I'm right that even in mondo mode I should still have tc to the front wheels? Any help appreciated......

Thanks

Jase

Thanks mate, This is something I just thought of :-( any way of checking this out ?

Looks like I might be removing driveshaft to check it out this weekend! Is or should the ring be on both shafts or just drivers side?

Got so many little problems with this car....just kinda fallen in love with it already!

no you don't need to remove it to see.

they are on all four driveshafts for abs and tc. ;)

Thanks so much for the help mate, will have a look after work tomorrow. I'm guessing if it is a cheap aftermarket replacement job, then the only way to rectify is to buy shafts with the rings? Nice to find someone on here who didn't rip the **** at the mention of buying a freelander!

you can buy the rings themselves and tack them on with weld.

heres a pic of an actual fl ring (this one is broken though)

Cool, will defo get this sorted....at the moment with no tc, it gets stuck at the sight of damp gras! Then onto replacing vcu and props :)

See Freelaner, it's all about appreciation when you help somebody out. Makes you feel good dosen't it. Well done mate. :)

It's a 2003 1.8 petrol, I managed to pick it up very cheap, and although the engine has been maintained unfortunately the previous owner left me with quite a few problems to solve!

a familiar story mate, happened to me.

your year will deffo have TC as standard so it won't be too much of a ballache to get it sorted :)
