I used to drive one of theseNot really. The changes you mention above are incremental changes to a vehicle's power output. Using NOS is not incremental, as it radically changes output and, furthermore, you would not run NOS permanently, unlike the above tweaks(sic).Permanently running NOS would blow your engine pretty quick, and empty your wallet even quicker.
As for running propane, then propane engine technology has been around for years, and providing the engine is prepared right, and run within manageable parameters, will not cause undue wear on the engine.
In fact, I was looking at a typical vehicle best suited for propane only the other day. Rear wheel steering; tremendous torque output at less than 1500 rpm. It's towing capacity far exceeds your typical Landy. In fact I have a picture of a similar model here.
Tazz
You do realise a turbo doesn't work all the time but isn't incremental. And actually produces non incremental performance increases? Ie a turbo RADICALLY alters the engines performance.
Nitrous can be setup to be very gradual. And yes you could use it all the time, well at least switched on all the time. First of you'd use a window switch so that it only activated at certain times. You'd also only have it working at WOT. So if you are at part throttle it'd not bother you at all. You'd also use an electronic controller so you could continually adjust the nitrous under full throttle conditions giving it a very smooth and progressive delivery.
But engines with turbos are normally designed for them and so is the vehicle its fitted to as with v8's ect.
so you cant use it all the time
NOS in a 300tdi? wtf makes you even think to fit NOS to a landrover?
More a case of I aint that stupid
Well to be accurate it's actually propane I run on my 300tdi.
I get more performance and better mpg negating the cost of the propane.
Stupid .....you work it out
did i mention propane?
If propane is so great why are the manufactures not using it?
No you didn't but this thread if you bother to read it discusses both propane and NOS.
Any about time you dropped the attitude....knob
:blabla: talking to you is like :frusty:

on another thread this morning i got stuffed claimed to have little mechanical knowlede..... yet here he is again pontificating as if hes the expert

I've just read through this whole thread and have a few questions:
1, Where is the proof from I got stuff the he has fitted this mod?
2, Why get so wound up when people say you are wrong if you have proof to prove them wrong?
3, Why would you want to get a Disco 2 and remove the TD5 and refit it with a 300tdi, is that not going backwards?
I have to agree with most people on here why would you want to fit either NOS or propane to something shaped like the broad side of a barn and the handling of a jelly. Yes I have modded my Disco but I get better MPG and a nicer drive, to go any further would start to eat into the inproved MPG.
To carry out a mod like adding NOS or propane without lowering the suspension and uprating the brakes is not only dangrous but utterly stupid.
In your opinion offcourse.
I've had a 1999 TD5 and a 2003 TD5 in the past, I was not impressed.
I now have 3 300tdi's, 2 are on the road and one is getting stripped for it's running gear when I come across a clean D2 at the right price with a blown TD5. There seems to be an abundance of them!!!!
In my opinion TD5's have never ending problems and are very susceptible to problems when laning
300tdi is my choice, it's my opinion bud, I'm not asking you to agree.

could you shed some more light on this?
