As I see it, the install would be prety complex given the additional need for a rear-facing camera and recording equipment, to capture the astonished look of the guy behind as you scream away from him, then the ensuing hilarity followed by frustration as you explode, blocking his path.

Personally, I'm quite content to block the road whilst trundling along at a 'sensible' speed. There's enough that can (and will) go wrong with the old gal without adding to the list.
 
Technically NO2/Propane injection will work quite satisfactorily on a diesel engine raising power significantly for short periods of time, the big question for landrovers is why?
I drive a standard 300tdi 90 and considering the limitations of brakes,tyres, handling etc it makes more than enough power for safe driving on the road. I can see the possibilities for off road/motor sport though.

So are you also totally against a 3.9 or 4.6 V8 90 then??

The end result is likely very similar. In terms if HP/torque. But a nitrous setup is still likely cheaper, removable so can be re-used or sold separately and you'll still get diesel mpg all the time you aren't at WOT.
 
im not that dumb that i would want to make something that has the aerodynamics of brick go as fast as possible i leave that sort of stuff to the knobheads that should be in the corsa owners club with there big eggsauces and pumping stereos,i use my rr for what it is intended:rolleyes:

Some people will like to put giant mud tyres on their Landy. Others won't. Neither is right or wrong. Some like fitting loads of lights and racks, others again don't. Some like fitting lifted high travel suspension. Some don't. Some like gaining performance, some don't.
 
Not really.The changes you mention above are incremental changes to a vehicle's power output. Using NOS is not incremental, as it radically changes output and, furthermore, you would not run NOS permanently, unlike the above tweaks(sic).Permanently running NOS would blow your engine pretty quick,and empty your wallet even quicker.

You do realise a turbo doesn't work all the time but isn't incremental. And actually produces non incremental performance increases? Ie a turbo RADICALLY alters the engines performance.

Nitrous can be setup to be very gradual. And yes you could use it all the time, well at least switched on all the time. First of you'd use a window switch so that it only activated at certain times. You'd also only have it working at WOT. So if you are at part throttle it'd not bother you at all. You'd also use an electronic controller so you could continually adjust the nitrous under full throttle conditions giving it a very smooth and progressive delivery.

i think your getting confused my friend.this isnt my fred ive had no input to regards power or speed ive made a couple of replies maybe you should read them before assuming i have an interest in this fred..keep up pls:doh:

I'm not against the V8s at all but remember the early ones only made 135HP or so, less than the current Diesels. Modern defenders have speed limiters so they can't go above 82mph which is fast enough in a tractor with cloth seats.
 
.... my understanding of nitrous oxide is that it breaks down in the cylinder to provide oxygen so you can squirt more fuel in to give a significant power increase...normally set up so it. only works at full throttle ... for a matter of seconds .... then engine temps go through the roof..... used on drag racers at santa pod and by boy racers in the traffic light grand prix..... or am i missing something.

As said in other posts, it's normally only used at WOT, how many users actually hit the floor in an ageing disco? I've never been there yet.:)
