Just planning to fit a new roof. Hav'nt removed the front headlinig yet but could do with knowing if I will need any replacement parts at the front as I am not sure how the roof attaches to the windscreen frame. I see some nut plates on Ebay but not sure if they are re-usable.
Any help to keep this swap as painless as poss greatfully received.

Thanks.

Sam

Piece of **** probably the easiest job it's possible to do on a landy. Yu won't even need a hand to lift the roof. just work ya way all the way round the roof & undo the bolts as yu go 10mm is the size you'll need. and cos they hardly ever get wet (bout the only things that don't) you'll just reuse em all again.

should be able to re-use all the fixings as they are all under cover, you might want to buy a trim removal tool if you havn't already got one then you can even re-use the headlining retaining clips.

Thanks.
The new, I mean second hand roof, only has holes in the inner sides right at the front. should there be captive nuts somewhere at the front to fix it to the screen.
Cheers.

Not captive but they are a nut welded to a small rectangular plate that sits in the internal gutter. so it can't turn when been done up but is easily removed once undone.

Once you have worked out how to get the rear view mirror out... its a straight job. I replaced all the seals when I did mine. I found the roof easier to lift off with a helping hand. It will be stuck down a bit so lift from the back first. I kept the bolts and nuts in little boxes... Front and side. When refitting do the 4 corners first, door pillars and then the rest. Mine didn't want to line up so maybe leave them slack and then do a final tighen up. A bead of Tiger Seal or similar maybe a good idea as leaks can be an issue.
