well, speakers all fitted.

sounds amazing ! especially compared to the old speakers.

i can turn it up now without distortion ! YAY ! :D

pics of install to follow :p

Yes but the bloody POI is still playing up????? I've got some of the options working, but I've sent a mail off to someone I know who's good with these software's and see what he thinks error is.

PS daughter likes "Yellow Submarine" 3D icon setting:doh:so do I:D

well, as promised, my install piccys :D

Only took an hour to change all 4, easy to work on these freelanders :D:D:D

anyway.

started on the rear passenger speakers.

taking the panel off.

Panel off, showing original speaker.

IMG_0909.jpg

Soldered on new cables that were supplied with the new speakers.

IMG_0917.jpg

All done !

IMG_0918.jpg

The cables i soldered on come with spade conenctions that connect to the speakers, i also soldered the connectors to the speakers as they are quite loose connections and i dont want them comming off any time soon :p

A picture with me holding the supplied grilles on the door panel just to show what they would look like fitted, i dont like them, too chavy for me ! but if you do want to fit them they can just be screwed straight on top of the existing ones - easy peasy

IMG_0923.jpg

Now the front

existing

IMG_0925.jpg

new

IMG_0933.jpg

I also disconnected the original tweeters in the front columns as there not needed as the new speakers are full range speakers

also more preperation for my arrival of my working head unit.

i bought two iso connectors for the steering connections to the new head unit. so they can just plug in to the unit instead of having to hard wire in.

IMG_0936.jpg

just used the speaker iso plugs and used 3 cores on each plug.

:D

thats all for now :p

want to see your install piccys now !
:p

Very good, see if you just put your mind to it Marky you to can be like Hippo and me, actually doing something:D:D:D:D

Looks good hippo! I agree about grill, mind you only visual sign anything's been upgraded so if you can live with the fact that nobody will know about your hard work and you can live with it your right to leave them off:rolleyes:haha

So what's the crack about the head then any ETA?

Primo is still "under work" I wasn't going to bother but can't seem to stop:doh:I think I've figured out what's going wrong, property issue on Stac file, just have to find out what it should be then change it, could be barking up the wrong tree mind, but worth a go:confused:

By accident I did figure out how to get the headrests to display background picture of my LandRover badge:D:eek:

nice one hippo...bit of a FLI guy now then ........ lol get it...fli guy...no?? oh ok then :(

anyhows angus...whilst waiting for my cheeky offer to be accepted I have currently got all the intake manifold off changing the glow plugs, cleaaning the egr then fitting the dazjam bypass kit AND fitted all the rivnuts to the sills/chassis ready for my new sidesteps that might go on in a bit ;) might put some pics up later just to show my dirty hands, well latex gloves anyway lol

keep up the good work fellas lol

Can some one tell me where the cables from the steering wheel controls are found( at the back of the radio) before I pull out the radio again to complete the last few wires.

Hippo - Looking good.....!

Also found an annoying feature of the Xtrons unit . When you switch to GPS from the musci playing either manually or auto by directions voice it turns the front speakers off which can only be turned back on by use of the music control menu DBAS button?

Cheers

Taz

Look in the ISO connector to the head unit, from the LR side wires on the bottom row about the middle is the three "haha" wires that you need, these are black/red. black/white. & Black. joke was I wired mine up wrong!

the black/Red cable is ground

the white/black cable is Switch 1

and the black cable is switch 2.

It goes against all sense but this is right and my unit now works via steering controls....... just don't tell hippo he'll get a big head:doh:

Just looked for my back speakers???
Turns out they are behind the fitted trim. But there are no holes in the trim!
And the trim is curved so I couldn't cut in a cover

sorry taz, dont know about the xtrons model, but i guess there all the same units really.

i havent even had a chance to play with mine yet lol :D

have you got a hard top freelander then ????

Yes Sasha has the 3 door van, same as mine but without the window and seats in the back......

Sasha my guess is you've only got them in your doors, I might be wrong but if you think about it why would you have them in the back apart from playing music whilst smuggling asylum seekers or playing music to tools "errr is that not the same thing" If you've got solid panels in the rear it would confirm it.

Mind you behind the panel you'd find the holes which fit the speakers but you might need to change the panels if you want to fit as mine is curved not sure about yours???

No there are speakers behind them for definite. I've turned the front off and got in the back to listen. They are solid panels that are curved.
But I have muffled speakers behind them.

seems weired

Very!!
It used to bo owned by b.t si don't see them messing around with speakers!
Done my master cylinder yesterday
Seems ok so far fingers crossed. I'll know for sure tomorrow.
May just change front speakers as you say why play music to tools ;)
