Well done!! Looks like you've all been busy today then :p

I take it you've wired in your own iso adpater rather than use an autoleads one?

Got to say, having looked at telarens pics and given the advantages of what this unit can do I think I am just gonna get one and then figure out the install, if I can't get the levels right on the HK amp i will just change the front speakers to a decent set of components and put a nice little 8" active sub in the boot and wire it all in direct from the head unit and do away with all the HK stuff. Not that impressed with the HK system anyway, far too boomy with no real depth.......

im guessing all the speakers go back to the amp right ???

so the amp will have an input of some sort from your stereo.

cant you plumb in the existing amp into a new head unit via the phono outputs you get on the new head units.

a sub wooffer output will work.

just dont use the on board amp in the new head unit ?

other wise run a 8 core cable from the head unit to the amp and just connect straight to the speakers and loosing the amp.

i think its easier to run new cables from the stereo to the amp then run 4 new cables, one to each one of the speakers.

i might be wrong

What a Time for people to land on a visit!! They're gone now and so is all of you!!

Well I'll see what pic's I can load up now and call it a night, again!

So here's some pictures from today, and for the record, yes it rained!

Pic 1, Mic that now goes from Parrot & DVD/GPS unit, as mentioned I have installed this to the new unit as I think the sound quality isn't as good so now it's bypassed.

Pic 2, wide show of the Mic.

Pic 3, headrests fitted into seats, each pole has a cable that slides down the centre, these are fed down the seats and can be felt once you've opened up the seat cover from the bottom, you then connect the two cables to a fuse box which comes with the units, these are then connected to the car's power supply. These units are also good as on the bottom of the pole is a bolts, you screw them on once you've fitted the headrests, now they cant be removed without taking off the bolt which is hidden within the seat! Nice! The even nicer bit is you also need a star key to lock a screw within the bolt again extra security, but a bugger to lock as you've gotta get your hand up the inside of the seat!!

Pic 4, Power to the headrests, these were powered by removing the rear cover on centre console and using the power connector which is encased there, this was to test the units. Since then I've connected the power in the dashboard, reasons for this is just makes it harder to get back out! Not for my sake but any slime who tries to rob them, they're gonna have to take off alot of crap if they want them! You will see from picture that the headrests are side feeding units, these also take USB and SD cards, IR controlled and FM supported.

Pic 5, wires, what more can I say, apart from blue box at bottom is current Parrot hands-free device for my phone, I decided to leave this in and have the new unit auto connect to mine and the Parrot will connect to the wife's.

My new unit is back in the house for the night since it's exposed and I'll finish off tomorrow and load the final pictures for you to look at.

Sweet looking DVD units. Where did you get them from?

will just have to wait for the replacment.

I know it's been said before but you've checked the Blue fuse in the back of your unit? Have you tried another fuse in the unit?

Nice work angus...this screens make mine look miniscule lol look the biz tho

Good news though (and thanks to telaren!!!) cos he's got HK and its all working fine with his unit so I'll have one more mooch around the bay in the morning (never go on ebay when you've had a few beers remember!) and hit the buy it now button and whack some more dosh on the good old credit card :D and thanks to angus, don't need one with the nav sd card ;)

Steering Wheel question

Was going to ask, did you get this sorted?

As mentioned, two wires from the controls connect to two of three wires on your DVD Unit, that's if they're not already connected. You would try this first! connect one of the wheel controls to Key1, forget Key2, connect the 2nd and remaining wheel control wires to Key-GND, then see if you can program via unit. If it doesn't work try again but with Key2 (not normally required) It should set and that's the job done!

I'm putting this one cos it's the one question peeps keep asking:D

I so feel for you hippo.
To go through all that and find it's shagged.
Hope you get it sorted soon. I was going for that one myself.
Best of luck

Thanks sasha.

yes a bit of a bummer.

other than the fault, i cannot moan about the unit at all, runs the sat nav (thanks to angus), plays all my movies, remote steering controls work and my Iphone works.

just cant wait to get it fitted and finished now

I cant see what anything would just go, not saying it doesn't happen unless bad connection somewhere, did you remove screen and put back on?
