well cant do much about working ! I have to pay this bloody unit off that you guys made me buy ! LOL :D

when i have finished work today im going to start fitting in the antennas and wiring up the remote steering cables.

then tomorrow you should see some pics of it installed :D:D:D:D

hahaha...willpower you know, just say no and all that lol

anyway, meant to say to you two, when positionong the gps antenna you've both mentioned about having it out on show somewhere but having retro fitted factory nav units to my last two cars (VW and Audi) I can tell you that as long as they are somewhere in the dash with no metal cross members above them to block their view then they will work perfectly fine, no need to be creating yourself extra work by trying to neatly run cables up the a pillars then behind the headlining. I reckon if you get get it somewhere just below the cup holders it will be fine. They are magnetic as well so if you do find a metal support that you can sit it on even better as it will stop any potential movement, but remember, get them the right way up cos that does make a difference....

HTH :)

But I'm still gonna trail the wire up and over!! haha, I did it with my current bluetooth unit also, so my mic is in the glasses holder in front of the centre mirror, nice voice pick up no need to shout over the phone!!

Just thought on the 3 door roof interior isn't the same as the 5! your light is where my glasses thingy is!!:)

Anyhow, just checked in to make sure your both not dead and to say I've had a cuppa, it's not raining "yet" so going to make a start!! And yes pictures will be taken......... Ooooooo and one other thing guess who's got his headrests!! not me!

The was a joke I've got them!! Unpacked and looking good, but bloody hell they look big! These would be better in a 5 door me thinks! And for some reason I've got 4 remotes? They're almost the same slightly dif colour to the panels? and the IR phones look nice, mind you I don't look good in them!! Thank god I''ll be doing the driving haha

Well done!!

Have you tried the mic out then on the bluetooth? You'll have noticed it's on the other side to where you sit, made for car's with the steering wheel's on the wrong side! This is a common problem, if your caller cant here you you'll have to see about getting the unit mod slightly, a small drill hole in the rear of unit, cable through hole, two solder joints onto the mic board attaching the cable, then you can complete an external mic attachment and place it somewhere in the car giving you better reception, sounds bad I know but honestly there's prob loads of threads out there advising this with drawings, I've already pratted on with my unit so the sound is better, think my mic was on the right side but it's that far away down there due to the position of the unit it was either that work or stop the car when you want to use the phone (road noise) I'll inc a picture when it all done. But you can pick up mic's from Ebay cheap...

Finally got piccies. Freddo's ALL MINE!!!!

A little tweak with the sizing and it will be perfect! Some of the badges on google image will do this, go back and have a look at the one I did, it's already the correct size for your unit and instruction on changing props it can be either added to IGO or saved as screensaver/saved load screen depending on unit! If you don't want the Powered bit on the bottom just edit via paint and save over!:)

Not tried out the phone / bluetooth yet. Will try it out later this week.
Don' fancy hacking the unit up but will see how it goes.

Well not a bad start for me today, untill now

finished work early so decided i would make a start with the installation.

connected up all the cabling.. All working good :)

connected up all the steering remote cables - all working as they should :)

The whole lot was all working fine.

all installed and cleaned up, go to turn on the unit, bamm ! nothing !

the units dead, no response, no lights, nothing !

tried resetting - nothing.

tried fuses, nothing. even plugged in my old head unit and it works, so not a power issue.

seems to me i have a duff unit !!

Very peeed off :mad::mad::mad:

now have to send this old cr&p back and wait probably more than a week to get another replacement.

and i now dont have any music in my car and a gaping hole in my dash !

just when its all working and installed, typical

**** mate, thats bad news, i know you've prob tried it and soz if you have but it does look like there is a fuse at the side of the connector for the iso leads on the back of the unit, have you checked that one?

yes mate, tried that one also.

bit weired, as i would have known if something was wired wrong, if it was it would have gone pop or a fuse would have blown.

but nothing, working fine one min, than it just stopped, no blown fuses, nothing obvious.

still feeling right peed off.

even more annoying the ebay seller shop doesnt even have a number to ring so have to wait for email replys !

useless lol

gutted for you mate...and telaren won the freddo as well!

although my headrest screens were shipped from tipton all the correspondance came from china, they are just drop shipped to avoid any import duty and vat, just hope they'll do a straight swap as you've only had it a few days, which seller did you get it from?

Feel a bit guilty doing this having just heard about Hippo's problems with his unit BUT telaren has won the Freddo!!!

Does your unit have a fuse built in at the rear?????

i've just walked in!!!

If it makes you feel any better I've not finished! Well I almost have, just connecting headrests up to front and put trim back on, called it a night as cant see, wiring was a bummer, took all my time checking wires etc and connecting to own sockets! But GPS installed on screen behind mirror and mic sorted, gotta program wheel controls and that's it, should be done....

Hippo, I;ll read over your notes, and look at unit spec might shed some light?

Well done!! Looks like you've all been busy today then :p

I take it you've wired in your own iso adpater rather than use an autoleads one?

Got to say, having looked at telarens pics and given the advantages of what this unit can do I think I am just gonna get one and then figure out the install, if I can't get the levels right on the HK amp i will just change the front speakers to a decent set of components and put a nice little 8" active sub in the boot and wire it all in direct from the head unit and do away with all the HK stuff. Not that impressed with the HK system anyway, far too boomy with no real depth.......
