When I first glanced at the pictures I thought someone had put a picture of my one up... Same colour, same tints (Only not done a well as yours... :lol: ) same rock sliders...

I went through a lot less hassle for my new tyres....

a couple of weeks keeping an eye on ebay looking for 265.75.16

found what I wanted and won a new set of General Grabber AT2's for £450.

Advertised my BFgoodrich 235.70.16 for £350 and they sold in a day.

Will pick up my new quality wheels and tyres tomorrow and I only need to add £100.

Very simple and I think I got a real bargain.

Not a spreadsheet in sight.

what mods did you do to fit the 265/75R16 tyres?? I've still not even done the camel cut to mine... 265/75 are significantly bigger than 245/75 too...

I've got a 2" lift fitted now, which prompted me to get bigger tyres, and will be cutting my panels when I know how much needs cutting.

I still have the anti roll bars so I'm hoping it wont need much.

ah, ok... mine has also had a 2" lift, but the previous owner remover the anti-roll bars too. It's like driving a boat!

You will definitely need the camel cut, because I have not done it and my old tyres have already bent the backs of the rear wheel arches around... like you though... i'm not sure what else will need trimming yet. I suspect i'll be fine with just the camel cut (you can see where i've vaguely marked it out with my finger in the photo below... lol

right... i found an open, legal lane open to all traffic with no restrictions, so headed down it (as do many farmers regularly too). No photos of driving through the short muddy section because I was driving, not photographing, but I also did a quick articulation test with a mound of earth I found en-route...

Definitely need the camel cut, but everything else seems fine!

The cheapest place around here (by a large number of £££ - 18% cheaper than the cheapest place I've known for my whole life!) for tyres was Saxon Gate Motorist Centre at Biggleswade near Bedford (01767 314011). Very helpful chap and unbelievably cheap!

However, given that I needed a new set of normal wheel nuts plus a set of locking wheels nuts as well, Paddock Spares came out at exactly the same price (within a fiver anyway) and I didn't have to drive there!

Paddocks did not have 245/75R16 tyres on their web site, so I phoned up, spoke to Darryl and asked if they'd like to put a "package deal" together for me... they said yes.

So...

4x 245/75R16 GT Adventuro Mud Terrain tyres fitted, valved & balanced to 4x black steel 16x7" modular rims + 1 extra black steel 16x7" modular rim + box of 20 wheel nuts + box of 5 locking wheel nuts

TOTAL: £560 inc. Delivery and VAT.

Obviously I jacked the vehicle up and changed them all over, and my local tyre place swapped the spare tyre onto the new rim free-of-charge.

So... the pics (so you all know it happened, of course ) sorry about the bad photo quality - didn't have proper camera to hand and light outside was terrible...

Apart from the rear bumper your Disco looks how I would like mine to.

I wanted bigger tyres, but I didn't go bigger for two reasons - (1) wider would have meant wider wheel arches and (2) this: Disco Tire Fitting Guide

the extra potential mods put me off, basically, despite me really wanting the biggest tyres possible!

As for the rear bumper, i agree - it's hideous and i hate it. The previous owner replaced the rear bumper with a standard tube bumper, but his puppy kept ketting its legs trapped in the gap, so he rivetted that plate to it to fill the gap.

I could remove the plate, but I dread to think what it would look like with nothing there, and in its defence, it is keeping the rain away from corroding what is underneath.

Anyway... ideas on what to do with it gratefully received! It is also useful for sitting on, but the angle makes it look all wrong, like a badly made, wonky shelf.

i got 35/12.50/15 tyres on my disco 2" lift and arches

needing wider wheel arches played a part because that would involve extra expense in order to be legal. Extra expense which I cannot really afford.

Also, according to Disco Tire Fitting Guide I would need to adjust the steering stops (easy enough), trim my "front endcaps" (maybe needed, maybe not depending how the stock bumper compares to my winch bumper), and possibly adjust the "bump stop height". I might also need spacers for the spare tyre, plus i'd have to buy five tyres instead of 4 to make the spare the same size. Plus, if I went bigger still, the spare wouldn't fit on the spare carrier at all.

fair point mine are on offset rims so spacers arnt needed,i am however gonna do a bodylift because at the weekend the tyres were catching on articulation

in brief summary, how does is body lift done? I'm not planning one on mine, but do you kinda unbolt the entire body, lift each fixing point by an inch, insert something and bolt it all down again or is it more major than that?

Also, despite the mud terrain tyres on mine, I also do a lot of road miles... not sure tyres as large as yours would do my MPG any favours! lol

yeh pretty much thats it with the body lift,and possibly extend the gearbox/transfer box levers ans remount the rad to keep it level with the engine,
yeh im sure the mpg would suffer alot

but mines a toy so i aint too botherd
