Current MOT runs out next month which has no advisories. I have a feeling i am going to need to do something with the rear cross member for it to pass this time though. I will be my daily driver yes, but do have access to other vehicle should I need to take some extra time on some things.

In that case it would be best to do just enough to get it through the MOT, then concentrate on the bits that are most critical to keep it running. The cosmetic bits should really be your last priority, don't really matter if it looks shit as long as it drives well and is safe.

If you are doing a restoration it’ll be off the road for quite some time, depending on the facilities, time and money you have available. If you have lots of the above, it’ll still be off the road for a while.

Have a look at MIG WELDING FORUM UK for lots of good info. A very useful lifetime skill to have.
You could get yourself Tickford Landrover to restore and put the wood working skill to good use. :D

The main thing you need for a restoration is a large covered space. In years gone by I have restored the odd classic motorbike from the ground up and that takes all of the space in a standard garage. Too much room though and you will start to loose parts and tools etc.
