Firing Order for a 4.0 litre petrol v8, mine is a 2001 model
when you look at engine from the front, the plug nearest to you on the right side of engine is 1, then 3, then 5, then 7
on left side,nearest plug to you is 2, then 4, 6, and 8.
on the two coil packs - they are in the order below

2 3 4 7 LOWER ROW NEAREST GROUND

8 5 6 1 TOP ROW NEAREST BONNET

ENGINE

Hope that makes sense, I couldnt find anywhere that explained it simply enough for me so hope it helps someone !
 
hi ive got a 98 S range rove se 4.0 v8, an having trouble, ive changed plugs, leads, an coil, an stil have a miss fire, any ideas,

long coil pack at back of engine say's

2 3 4 7 8 5 6 1

an been told engine is (as standing in front looking at engine)

left--------right-
8----------7 -
6----------5--
4--------- 3
2----------1

am i right in doing by using lead numbered 1, put in coil numbered 1, an other to number 1 numbered on the engine ????

as you look standing in front of engine rh 1357 lh 2468 ,no1 is closest to front then across to other bank 2
