I had 4 total in my lot,but only put myself down on original list.Maybe a "book in here/arrivals place "would be betterer next time-All a bit strange arriving in the dark.
Weekend overall was great-nice to meet the faces behind the screen names

That's a good point, we planned to just keep an eye out and greet folk as they arrived but it got a little chaotic once or twice

was very interesting learning a bit about bio from you on saturday night, shame you couldn't do a demo.
was a pleasure to meet you. :)

I did attempt a mini bio demo on the Sunday morn in the video tent(barbie) But unfortunately most peeps were busy trying to get off home by then.I had planned originally to have a table set up by my tent with bio stuff going on all weekend(organic chemistry is slow outdoors). But the wind was simply just to strong to have any element of safety.(blowing things off table)
Hopefully next year ,with better weather or access to one of tents(kids must be kept away though) can do something better.

Hoping to be able to set up a seperate space for demos and we definately need to sort a proper schedule of events

I would have liked to have seen that. I was busy drinking coffee and didn't realise you were doing it :(

Wristbands - gutted - none for my lot. The kids would've loved 'em and refused to have taken them off evar!!

They is living in their landyzone hoodies from the woman over the way from the glamping pod - Tom had a luminous orange and Em had a shocking pink one.

Yeh t'was very interesting that, thanks for taking the time! ;)

love the idea of demos and events tent.

would welding demos be useful? let noobs have a go on mig or arc, and have the good welders give some tips... god knows i could do with a few pointers :)

Think you would need some "big boys" generator to keep up with an arc or mig welder-but would be good if do-able

We run our mig off the 6KVA that we took for the weekend, works ok but not ideal for a standard mig.

Yeah but 6kva is pretty big boys.I am deffo not going to argue with someone that can lift that into a caravan for the journey home;)

The Genny for the comfort area looked a bit ex mil and overkill, could a deal be done with them next time? repair/reinforce a trailer or two?

Count me to help out next time - can't wait. I think you will find more people will attend next year as it is clear those that attended had a great time.

Sadly you will never please everyone and some will choose not to attend for 'personal reasons' but so be it. The weekend was well organised, well run and a bloody good event. Some of the suggestions for next year are easily sorted - I had a t-shirt printed with my name on it so others new who I was (and so I could remember after my bottle of brandy!), we printed off the name cards to put in the Landy so people new who the Landy belonged to. We bought beer because the choice wasn't great. so in other words we made an effort to enjoy ourselves.

The site was perfect. It won't suit all geographically but is the 'best fit' in my opinion. I can see this event growing and growing and am excited to be part of it.....

As this thread seems to have calmed down a tad, i would like to throw a few suggestions into the hat if i may. Please feel free to disregard any/all content at your leisure mainly hoping to inspire others to come up with much better ones.
I realise much of this has probably already been thought of so apologies
if already planned.

Venue

I would keep it at Stanford Hall. All the groundwork has been done, you have a good idea of costs vs attendance to help to work out 2015 pricing.

Camping, parking, water, toilets, showerand marque facilities couldn't be
better in my opinion.
St Hall staff seem to be prepared to go above and beyond to ensure
event is success. And by all accounts they seem willing to have LZ back...

Site couldn't be more central. Yet i know some want it further North,
some south, some split bi-anually but we have to be realistic about what is
financially and logistically viable. Personnally i would prefer right next
to perran porthbeach but .. hey Ho. You will never appease everybody so fruitless to try.

Dates

Seemed ok to me. Possibly move dates hoping for better weather or to include a bank holiday (this could be a double edged sword, better for some to have extra day for ability to enjoy a full weekend/ the mon for travelling/relaxing before going back to work/schools, will attendance be less likely because people are more inclined to have booked their holidays over the B/H etc.

Lz10 organisers probably already aware that stanford hall had other events this whit weekend as well as the VW event + others in june.
Plus it is an anniversary after all.

Attendance

This is by far the mos difficult part. Somehow we need to encourage better attendance from all sectors...series/defender/disco/freelanderers even ukip voters if you like.

Maybe advance notice of events/challenges/laning/catering , generally whats on and whats available.

Accomodation

Camping is the ideal answer to this. It brings everybody together both physically and socially, whether you normally holiday in a tent, caraven, b+b, Hotel or on your own Yacht.
For one weekend everyone is in the same boat and we should suffer together or not depending on the weather.
Most LR events or festivals are based around camping.

For those who do not wish to slum it with the rest of us there is great accommodation on-site in the form of the Luxury Glamping Pods for a very reasonable £35 per night, done a quick search and this is cheaper than holiday/premier inns etc...

May be if enough people want this a couple of ££ discount can be negotiated for a group booking paid in advance.

Food and Beverages

You probably know or could enquire know how well the bar was utilised compared to no. of peops to evaluate whether bar is viable and at what prices.

I would probably try a few beers and i know the Mrs would test the real ale, although would be bringing our own for the weekend any way as will many others.

Tis a difficult decicion, but i think the bar adds a certain sociable factor myself.

Logistics/co-ordination

Some body mentioned Name tags Good idea
Maybe more volunteer's to take turns on the bbq organising events, keeping people informed etc...rather than just a few spending all weekend might go some ways to make it more enjoyable for all.

Better signs for directions, activities, prices..... Maybe a central reporting point large notice/events board with all weekends schedule etc... Place to put your name down for activity etc.

Activities

Maybe some form of field competitions such as a timed winching/fastest wheel change/tent erecting/beanbag throwing/five a sidefootball ..... whatever competition. Just a few stupid activities to break the ice get to know each other even if 90% of peops just stand and laugh at the others.
winner gets a free beer+burger+relish of their choice

Demonstrations

Baking competition - best cake to be judged on the fri night by the pre organised official LZ tasting committee i think bb has already voulenteerd to chair that,

Bouncy castle- these seem to be quite cheap these days kids from 10-7 adults 7-late

Take orders in advance for lz clothing for free/cheap collection on site (maybe wigh lz11 2015 logo) I thought minty's looked brilliant

Evening activities seem to be sorted as the disco seemed to be very well received.
maybe a landy themed quiznight/afternoon, seems unlikely thor will attend so should give the rest of us a chance..... how about a build/inspiration thread of the year competition, only attending nominees can win

Sorry for length of post thought i would get it all done before i forget.

I would be more that willing to help out in any way i can.

Thanks

Daz
