Morning all, Thanks for all the helpful posts.I went on the BBS website and watched one of their videos yesterday.my Faultmate in stand alone mode does not operate as per the video.I'm thinking some damage may have occurred through wires shorting when I used the original lead that came with the unit.Bought second hand from a member I'm sure it was sold in good faith.Stay safe.

I cannot guarantee anything but I can take a look if you post it down. Someone else on here might be a bit more tech savvy, pwood, maybe? Or Neilly, he used to work in IT. He's not so far from me either.

Just occurred to me, if anyone can fix it quick and cheap it'll be @martyuk He has his own Faultmate to compare to. He's back at the moment too.

I am back at the moment, yes!

I can't guarantee I could fix it either - my faultmate is the baby version with just the BECM CPU module installed, as that's all I use it for.. But I DO have Vehicle explorer installed, and on a machine with an actual serial port - so I am happy to take a look and see if there is anything obvious going on with it if you wanted to send it to sunny Swindon. I don't have a lot else happening at the moment Well, other than having rebuilt my BECM tester, and slowly going through and testing all the random BECMs I have kicking about here, so I can get an inventory of what's working and the versions!

If you want to send it, then drop me a PM. If you send all the cables etc, then I can check it all out - I have a couple of Windows 7 machines, and a Windows 10 one aswell, so can check on various platforms. I can also repair the cable if required.

Marty

that's very kind of you and @Grrrrrr I'll send you a pm, having trouble with the WiFi again.bee in touch soon.

Just an update, finished cutting the conifer hedges, all 64 meters of them I decided to check the orb2 to series cable.decided to do the modification as per wiring diagram. due to the effects of the strokes and lack of dexterity I decided to join an odb with wiring to a series with wiring. Had to give up due to tiredness, will resume tomorrow and report back. Should have gone with the kind offer from @Datatek and @martyuk . Only time will tell..keep safe everyone.

The offer is still there - I'll be home for the foreseeable future! I am in the middle of sorting out and testing a load of BECMs I have here (about 20 of them I think!) and have sucessfully managed to actually trace and repair some logic board faults on some of those spare boards that I have too...

After that it's onto HEVAC controllers, window switchpacks, and door latches.... so wiring a faultmate cable would almost be a nice break! haha..

Let us know how you get on - and if you do decide you want to send any of it down, then just drop me a message!

Any idea where in the BECM I would look to find the bit that switches the rear nearside interior light?

The word ‘denial’ springs to mind !

You say you hate it but you chose our safe word, which is “harder”- don’t blame me for getting carried away.
Anyway house calls are going to be extra and no your gimp mask doesn’t comply to WHO regulations but my birch branch s 2 metres long so at least I’m safe. :p
Oh and another thing, the rough end of a pineapple doesn’t count as one of your ‘‘5 a day’ :D
