Well this feels odd , I’ll try and be sensible and answer your question while I’m dressed. ..
The pc is saying it can’t find the file on your computer that your shortcut is pointing to so are you sure it’s still installed ?
What windows version are you using ?
Do you know how to navigate to the vehicle explorer file location ?
You could try typing vehicle explorer in the search box in the bottom left corner of the screen. You may have to re install the vehicle explorer program from the BBS site.

The message on the unit is saying it is waiting for a message from the pc to say you are using it in conjunction with the laptop but it won’t get it as the program didn’t run. You can also use the faultmate in standalone mode as in not connected to laptop by pressing any button on the unit and then navigating to your vehicle and following the menus through to the ecu you want to test.
If you navigate to program files and then the black box folder if it’s there and see if you can see the .exe file and double click it but from your first pic it isn’t where it should be .
Feck, arse , girls , drink , NUNS !!

Type VE.exe in your windows search box in bottom left of screen and see what comes up in the results window, if you see a ve.exe file, double click it and see if vehicle explorer starts.
The input is either automatically from the pc explorer software when it runs or the input for standalone is you pressing any button on the unit / server blue rectangular box thing with pretty blue writing on it .

Morning Alan, as you bought the Faultmate second hand, you will need to register on the BBS site, that will the let you download Vehicle Explorer which is necessary to operate the Faultmate with a PC, you can also operate the Faultmate without a PC.

Morning Sugar, I'm running Windows 10.I'll try what you surgested, don't I always, These are strange times are they not.X stay safe.

I am not up to speed with windows 10 really but if if you can do the equivalent of the following
Also when entering into the search box, just try VE instead of VE.exe as my pc didn't find it with the .exe extension.

if you find another folder with just 'black boxes' as the folder name that may be something completely different and linked to your diversity training from when you enrolled as a volunteer missionary gynecologist.:)

Click on Computer, program files, black box solutions, vehicle explorer and you should see a page like this with the VE showing as an application. i haven't got it installed on a windows 10 pc so it will most likely be different on yours.

Windows 10 is an effing nightmare.

8.1 was brought out because people hated 8 so much. Basically 10 is 8.1 with the UI from 7.

I still use 7 better by far than anything since. My laptop is 10 but has managed to totally fill the hard disc with crap Microsoft rubbish i never asked for. It's a bloody nightmare. I have a very fast gaming computer i got given me that is 10 but i am still going through it tidying the hardware up. Will have to see how it goes when it's up and running.

I have only recently got a Win10 tablet/notebook with detachable keyboard. It took me 2 days to successfully switch off all the Microsoft crap, now it is no better or worse than 7. 8 was a disaster, 8.1 was a slightly improved disaster. Interestingly, RAVE runs without the Adobe error messages and no driver was needed for the EAS software but a new USB to serial adaptor was.

Windows 95 was better than 3.1 I think and it’s 28 installation floppy disks and 98 was amazing and the 2000 and ME was ****e and then XP saved the day. Can’t remember what turds came after that but windows 7 was great and 8 was for touch screen crap I think and haven’t braved 10 yet as my whole world is on an old pc that keeps nagging me to update but if I get it wrong I may as well just die and burn my RR, bike , family ...
Something like that anyway .
