Thinking about investing in one of these......I have read up on this forum and it looks like a really good piece of kit, however Is there anyone in the Coventry or Burton upon Trent areas that has one that I can have a look at, as I want to see what it actually does, preferably attached to a lap top....

get in touch with irishrover ha is over just now and i am sure [if he is sober] he would give you all the imfo and help you will need. but you would need to take lots of biscuts with you. good god he can eat the 5 at a time..

I ordered the Extreme full kit last Monday direct from BBS. Not here yet so cannot say anything else about it. BBS_Guy is not following this forum anymore and also not giving the 10% discount to members here going forward.

I bought a Faultmate Extreme last year, it's a very comprehensive piece of kit. It's not that expensive if you buy the single vehicle kit but of course that's restricted to one vehicle. I bought the multi vehicle version with a limited number of software modules for my particular needs. A bit more expensive but I can deal with faults on mates cars and others if needed.

Does it cover all systems on the car?

With the single car system, do youhave to buy additional modules or is it all included?

Does anyone have a screen shot/photo of a typical screen or display of the fault mate when attached to a PC?

The single car kit covers all systems on one car locked to the VIN.
Multivehicle you buy the hardware and then software modules you want, you can always add more modules. In my case I bought the diesel engine ECU, SRS, Auto box, ABS, HEVAC and BECM. I did not buy the EAS module as I'm happy with the RSW EAS suite. There is an additional specialist BECM software module SM035 that's a tad expensive but allows direct access to the BECM to get at some of the locked fuctions. I don't have that but I'd like if I ever have the cash available.

Cheers Datatek - I would plan to go for the Single Vehicle System. I take it that this is something that you could 'sell on' with the car as an asset as it is specific to that car? Not that I am planning on selling..

Yes you can sell on with the vehicle, you can also buy a license for a second and third vehicle.

Its a youtube video of an overview of one on a P38

Awesome bit of kit. Give BBS guy a pm and he should be able to give you a link where you can download a demo copy of the software.

If I buy the single vehicle kit, can I still update this with specific modules for muti-vehicle use?

I received my MSV2 last week which I bought with all the software licences to suit a single P38. Did the vehicle Scan on Saturday and mailed off the results that day. Got my unlock codes first thing Monday morning. Entered the codes last night to unlock these modules:
SM009: Bosch Motronic M5.2.1
SM013: TRW SPS type2 (P38 NRR) Airbag
SM018: Wabco D type 1 (P38 NRR) ABS
SM022: BECM (P38 NRR)
SM026: Lucas Electronic Air Suspension (P38 NRR)
SM027: Valeo HEVAC (P38 NRR)
SM039: Hella Cruise Control
My car is a 2001 4.6 Thor.
My initial impressions regarding the kit is that it is very well made and the main PC interface "vehicle explorer" is very good. I know I have a problem with the A/C so will be using it on that come the weekend. I'm sure I know what the issue is (leaking condenser), but it will be nice to see what codes are logged and go from there.

The BBS owners forum looks very good from what I've seen so far. All in all I'm very pleased with the set up and as I don't know anyone near me with a RR having it locked to my cars VIN is not an issue. I've seen a lot of complaints about the licensing procedure, but frankly the only issue is you can't use it right out the box as you need to allow at least a day to complete the registration process. The process it's self is quite simple.

Personally I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling that the "All comms" project will deliver for the P38. Hence I invested in the Faultmate NOW.

All I had before this was the EAS unlock suite which I have used to good effect.

LW.....
