What code reader are you using?Hi, i was wondering if you got to the bottom of the... Can error fault. Currently active... Situation? I just plugged in my tool and got that code as well as a few others relating to manifold pressure/air flow etc... It's a smokey(black) Disco2 I'm trying to fix
I bought an icarsoft lr2. An economical choice as I'm looking to sell once this problem is solved. What code reader are you using?
Unfortunately that one is completely unreliable when it comes to the Td5 engine, i know as a friend of mine has it and i compared it's readings with hawkeye, it works with other systems but not with the engine even though it connects to it the codes or live data are all erroneousI bought an icarsoft lr2. Ademcd,
Possibly teaching granny to suck eggs, but have you checked your air cleaner.?
Blocked aircleaner will cause black smoke.
Just remembered that bit.

But it may still be worth removing map sensor on the inlet manifold and cleaning with electrical cleaner as a dirty sensor will give black smoke symptoms.
Thanks... My next plan was to blast everything with a contact cleanerBut it may still be worth removing map sensor on the inlet manifold and cleaning with electrical cleaner as a dirty sensor will give black smoke symptoms.
Ill give it a goAdemcd, have you tried 2SO? (Two stroke oil)
Adding 2SO to the fuel tank when you fill up helps to lubricate pump etc and also seems to cut down on smoke.
I put 2SO in my tank with every top up, usually £50 worth and about 100ml of 2SO.
At 133k miles I do not even have a puff of smoke at all. Not even on start up.
I buy my 2SO in Morrisons at £2. I would put a whole bottle in,providing you h ave plenty of fuel and give it a good run. For £2 worth a try.
