Actually they are only tripped on an overheat Tony.:)

Yes i did say they came in on an higher temp. Around 100 degrees i think. Not knocking your mod, it is excellent. Just saying that there is some overheat protection present as standard on certain model years.

Over 105 to 110C I believe:) Trouble is that once the temperature has gone that high it takes more effort to get it back down.

Yes designed to get rid of latent heat at low RPMs. Kick in temp is too high for such a marginal cooling system. Specially on the V8 were the block cracks for fun.

Can you change the kick in temperature using the Nanocom or similar?

I think it is a FAB mod.

I rest easy in knowing my fan works instead of a viscous and I can now get access to water pump, stat and belts with ease.

No, on the disel, it's a simple thermal switch fitted on later models only, on the petrol it's controlled by the engine ECU and unless you are a dab hand with software it's fixed:)

I think you need to give datatek abit of credit here guys, for passing out this cheap mod for the ac fans,i,ve used it on my diesel and it works a treat, thanks again mate

As I said before.
It is a fab mod and I really do rest easy knowing my cooling is working well.
No issues in this yrs heat, with trailer and aircon con.
Many thanks.

I think its awesome, I just towed a caravan to wales from sussex & back again with no problems, even on the a417 which to those that know the hill near Cirencester which is massive and goes on for miles. Fans were working hard but no overheat.

Where can i get the thermostat
Ive got the mod wired to a switch cos i only used it as a get me home when the viscous failed but now my viscouse is fixed. I was thinking of useing this as a backup cos as we all know the viscous can pack up just for fun

You can get the stat from www.cpc.co.uk or possibly Conrad Electronics, PM me with an email address if you want full details:)

What temp is it desinged to run the coolant at on a diesel?
You don't need to know that, you set the stat to start the fans when the engine is up to normal running temperature as shown on the gauge, then back it off until the fans just stop. Job done.:)
