Wow thanks for the info peeps! I have the book, just haven't read it yet!!

The black vogue looks beautiful, is it java black? What's the paint code? But so does the red.....oh god why do we have choices!!!!

:D

Java black is a nice colour but if you can do it your self why not go for somthing diferant? Subtle but diferant maybe black with bronze metal flake?
Not a heavy metal flake just enough to catch the sun (when we have some)
But if your not sure im more than happy for you to try it out on mine :):)

Haha, bring it down and we'll paint it for you!!

Anyway a bronze flake is present in both Ferrari Nero black and Vauxhall sapphire black but I don't think either of them suit the truck. I've been through this this morning at my paint supplier.

Java black has green, red, blue, silver, and what's looks like a purple flake present within it, and it has the addition of larger flakes due to the size of vehicle it's being put on.

I think java black painted properly will be beautiful. The way i'll apply the last layer of basecoat will ensure a much higher metallic presence.

How much you charge for a job like that?

If its a colour change job usually the cost is around £1800 including any dents but if its a same colour blow over we can do it for £1400

However as its mine, its just blood, sweat, tears and divorce!! :(

Hahaha!! Understood. The paint job I'm doing will be worth more than the car but I cannot stand that blue and it desperately needs to be made look worth a little more than it is right now!

Just remember for future reference, cheap job = do it twice!!! You get what you pay for with bodywork, might look nice when u get it back but give it 6 months and it'll start to show all the shortcuts and bodges.

Just seen a white one

Advice noted. It's difficult to pull off white on any car unless there is no belt line trim, or anything to interfere with the lines. If you were to paint a P38 white, you would have to paint ALL of it white, like the new ones. No black bits, and immediately it would necessitate larger wheels to pull it all together. Wont' be doing that then!
Ok so with your help I'm being cornered into Black, black or black as my options list!!

as black as Darth Vader's under crackers me thinks! :D

Found a pic of an absolutely gorgeous '96 down under and its really taken my breath away. Think a cloning sesh is in order.

Is Black your only option, if not why not Blue.
T88 Moonlight Blue a Mitsy colour, a pearl based Metalic it's so deep in the right light it's unreal. If you want to see it in the flesh come look at me Paj, your in Cheshire the same as me so come have a look if you want.

£1400 for a blow over

Yup! You get what you pay for.

My definition of a blow over is strip the car, glass out, do all the shuts, panels front and rear. A proper re-spray.
Other shops definition of a blow over is shut all the doors, mask it up, don't take anything off and throw some paint at it for £700. Which will then slowly start to peel off. Mine had it done like that sometime in its life and guess what? Yup, all the edges are peeling off where they couldn't be bothered to scotch it or fade it in properly.

Careful what you get done, and where. :boink:
