right i was out doing some bits on the new p38dt and had the key in the ignition when i reconnected the battery and it locked the doors how can i get the key out without breaking a window help me please asap

Was the previous locked condition Superlocked??

If not, try very carefully levering the top of the window frame and use a stiff wire hanger or similar and try to lift door lock....else a good locksmith could help.

The AA have been known to get in a non-superlocked P38, but one report on here, said the AA man snapped his key somehow...still not sure how...!!!

If it was superlocked, then that is a whole different ball game which will require a Brixton/Cardiff/Newcastle key (a large brick).....

It may be possible to get in when superlocked, but I have not heard of a non destructive method, although I do stand to be corrected.

Bit late now, but lesson is, leave window open or put key In pocket, sorry I'm no more help, hope u get In without any damage

yeah i am gonna try prising it just phoned breakers they got a drivers window in for £15 so all else fails ill reort to a brick

I have always left the window open a few inches if I leave the vehicle with the keys in it and I have to close the door....

It has been known that even closing a door with 'enthusiasm' has operated the door locks....

I learnt this the hard way on a previous P38....since then, whenever disconnecting or reconnecting the battery I always have a door open...

Good Luck....hope you manage to get in without resorting to the Brixton Key.

top of door will pry enough to be able to put a wedge in ,this will allow you to drop down some stiff wire to hook under lock and pull up,put some tape onto place were you will be prying will save the paintwork.
Yes I have done this myself.

If the bonnet is still open try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, you never know it might just unlock did same thing many years ago on a car with central locking now I make sure the key is in my hand before I connect a battery up.

Yes what KDS said but have someone at rear of car pressing the tailgate button and pull open, this has known to work. :)
