Just discovered the Facom Rotator range which look really very good and I should be able to get the 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" for about £35 each (I work on motorcycles and land rovers so need the range!). I thought I would have a look at their catalogue and came across this, then found it on ebay:

Now that is something I would like but HOW MUCH!!! Blimey.....

I posted the 1/4" drive one by mistake. I've just replaced it with the 1/2" one at £675. Realistically I'd need BOTH so that would be about £1200 for a pair of torque wrenches as I work on motorcycles and land rovers....

Well thats even worse then! The Britool one I have I paid £30 for, tested it and it was still within the 3% margin of error after 20 years!

I've got a 3/8" one at the moment from Halfords. It's not really that useful as it doesn't go low enough for some of the bike bolts or high enough for some of them (such as the wheels!) It certainly doesn't go high enough for the landrover. Maybe I need to add a 1/4 and 1/2 drive one to the tool box but a pair of manual ones rather than the electronic ones. I like the idea that it can remember the values of the nuts so that you can recall them but that price is just plain silly.

1/2" is all I have, large one 50-250ft/lbs small one 25-50 ft/lbs and if needed I can borrow a mates 3/4 or 1" drive truck wrenches for 200-1200ft/lbs

I like to make sure the bike bolts are absolutely right. I've just had to replace the oil cooler at £80 because someone tightened the bolt too tight and cracked it. I'm not quite so psychotic on the landy unless it's an area where they need to be spot on. Will probably get them after the rotator wrenches:

FACOM TOOLS J.360PB 3/8"SD ROTATOR RATCHET SPECIAL OFFER! | eBay

I'm hoping to get all three. I've just done a job on the bike where I had to remove the seat surround in order to remove the tank and air box then undo 8 jubilee clips and remove a choke cable just to remove a bank of carbs in order to turn 4 screws located underneath them by 90 degrees each. These would have made it SO much easier. Had a similar issue when removing the heater from the 90

Seem a bit gimmicky to me, what's wrong with muscles?

Surely in a few years they will be broken/out of battery or something, I look at my tools and they get used hard, I brought a digital caliper as I thought it was cool. Mistake. Doesn't survive the harshness of a garage/workshop

Also the expense!!!!!

Halfords/teng for me thanks!!

I'd rather stick with a mechanical one, than digitial, as above, the sensor will wear overtime.. but... £500 for a specialist tool seems a fair price to me, if i had a need for one i wouldn't think twice about buying one...

Those Facon tools are pretty good though the lad has had a set of spline drivers for about 15 years and they are now about the oldest tools he still has, apart from those I have lost when he has been around:rolleyes:
