One problem with side exit and a diesel like the 200 is your bodywork will go black in that area.

Also it states off-road, that probably means it is loud (I am assuming too loud could fail an MOT?).
Looking at the pictures there is only one 'silencer' and I use that term very loosely, so yes it will be loud and possibly very tiring on a long journey. Exhausts aren't expensive to make, (excluding silencers) it's just bending tube in the right place. Once you have your bending tools and the measurements you can churn out loads.

Mate had one custom made for his 200 a few years ago, I said that will be a mistake as the car (light blue) will soon be black, dont be silly he said, thereafter the car was always black down one side!

How far down do you guys think the side exit will be?

If it comes out just above and behind rear wheel there shouldn’t be to much bodywork to turn black?

It vortex’s down the side then round the rear door.
Exit of pipe is normally infront of tyre

What other options are about as far as exhausts go? Want to keep it cheap ideally and create less to catch when off roading

You could always go for the very cheap vertical tractor style exhaust :p stops it getting caught on things underneath, and tractor exhausts are very cheap.
