Good afternoon all,
After over two months of investigation of a Most Annoying gringing under power i have located the problem! 'Exhaust is vibrating on the subframe under power once Hot '. I hate to admit that i have replaced Quite a few parts before i found the cause, (PROCESS OF ELIMINATION). I have been told it is down to the Manifold and full system replacement will sort issue but Being a K series Petrol i want to get my facts straight before spending any more time or effort on the pig! has anyone encountered this issue before? and if so is there another contributing factor?

Yeah, was done yesterday, no change, currently a piece of fire blanket keeping both parts separate to reduce noise although have opened up the weld on middle box, so will need at least some replacing of exhaust system, just want to get to root cause before investing in new pipes.

Surely it's due to a bent mount!
I wouldn't replace any parts until I had fully investigated all the mounting points. Also check the down pipes for an impact point, it may be that the front has had a bash and moved the whole system.

i would agree also check for engine mounts have not gone causing the engine to move about

My early (1998) 1.8 has the exhaust downpipe bolted to the underside of the sump but when I bought it, these bolts were missing and caused an exhaust rattle on acceleration and deceleration. Re-fitting the 2 bolts to secure the downpipe to the sump solved it.

Cheers for the Suggestions folks, Turned out to be gearbox mount! Replaced both Mounts over the weekend with only minor damage to my hands (HA!) and new Middle exhaust Yesterday.
Ticking Like a sewing machine once more! Yeah!!
Just the Rear Sub Frame bolts Left on My to do List. (''BUT FOR HOW LONG'' I hear you Scream????)
