@PRO Do you roughly know the service function names you ran to smooth the idle? I have a bit of a rough idle but I can’t find idle calibration or fuel trim calibration anywhere. I can only find the idle test.

Cheers for the iso btw, the only one I have found that works online!

Hi Guys,

Got a netbook setup with SDD on, bought a mongoose cable from ebay 404751888844 , just plugged it into the L550 and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree :oops:. Any suggestions on the best working cable out there?

Cheers
Mark

Just done some googling, seems to be the pin 13 issue, would that be the little blighter?

New to using JLR SDD. Do I need to do anything else to download the as-built data and calibration files?
If I go to:
System utilities > Combined as-build and calibration file update

A pop up appears saying something like starting system service then just disappears and nothing happens

Thanks

Does anybody have any experience with the above? SDD is not connecting to the server to download the as built files. I have used the patch that came with the clone cable. Would a different patch make a difference?

Thanks

UPDATE:
I went into Network Settings and clicked Activate Network and this seemed to solve the problem.

Proceeded to then try and pair a new key (car only came with one)
SDD downloaded the required files, ran through the motions and then asked me to press the unlock button on the new fob.
After a minute a message popped up saying
'Programming failure. All smart keys are not programmed successfully. Re-run the new keyless module replacement procedure.'

Has anybody had any success programming an additional key? Didn't want to proceed any further as I've read horror stories of all keys being wiped and not being able to start the car.

Thanks

I've just bought myself a Lenovo laptop, my first Windows machine in 25 years! I've been a Mac user for so long that I'm very rusty on Windows. It seems I've fallen at the first hurdle as I can't create a bootable Win7 installation USB stick. I've borrowed my son's Windows laptop, downloaded the MS installation media creator and I have an iso of Win7. I go through the steps and it burns the files to the USB stick but when I try and boot from it nothing happens. There's no OS on the Lenovo so when I switch on all I see is the boot menu with options for SATA HDD, USB or Network Boot. I select USB but it just comes straight back to the menu again. Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

I also have a few more basic questions but I reckon the answers will help a lot of folk on here that aren't particularly into IT:

Is Win7 still the preferred OS for running SDD?

If so, 32 or 64 bit?

Is the SDD iso just the SDD software or is it a full VM?

If it's a VM does it matter what OS is installed on my laptop - can I run Win10 natively and Win7 in a VM with SDD?

I'm going to do an air path calibration on my 2010 FL2, do I do that with the engine running (which seems logical) or with just the ignition on and the car powered by a power supply?

Any help is much appreciated.

What is an air path calibration?
I presume it calibrates the end points of the throttle (and possibly the EGR??) so that the ECM knows the limits etc.

In my thread here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-ro...valve-engine-swap.388726/page-10#post-5678131 I describe the fault codes I'm getting after replacing the engine in my FL2. The codes relate to throttle body and EGR so air path calibration seems like it may have some bearing on these faults. I imagine my ECM needs to know the limits of my new throttle body and EGR.
I have sdd running on win7 32bit if that helps

Win7/32 seems like a safe bet, just got to get it on my laptop now 🤯.

😁

Just done some googling, seems to be the pin 13 issue, would that be the little blighter?
Bought another Mongoose cable with the same issue but the pins were numbered, so managed to snip off pin 13. Plugged it in to the car but now SDD wont even give the option of reading the cars VIN. Just stats that there need to be a BSU connected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow! Finally got SDD working. After buying and returning 3 Windows laptops from Ebay  (the first came without the advertised PSU, the second was wildly different spec to what was advertised and the third was advertised with Win10 and an OK battery but had neither!) I was about to throw in the towel.

Then I got to thinking about what @kermit_rr said:

i run it in a VM
and I thought "I wonder if it will run in a VM on my old MacBook Air?"... and it looks like it does... though I'm reserving judgement for now just incase it all goes turbos-up!

It looks like I'm going to have to spend some time getting to know SDD but I have so far managed to reset the oil service warning and clear then re-read the fault codes.

What I'm wondering is (and I'm probably looking to either @PRO or @Nodge68 🙏), having replaced the whole engine should I be running through some of these procedures?

As far as my EMC is concerned does it think that I've replaced things like EGR, throttle valve actuator, lambda sensor, boost pressure actuator etc and therefor I should be doing some of these procedures?

Anything that came on the new engine will need the relevant calibration to be run.

It's best to run an air path calibration on it too, as the new engine will have different air induction characteristics to the old one.

I haven't spent much time poking around in SDD yet but I haven't seen Air Path Calibration. Do you happen to remember where I would find it please?

I can't remember where it is, and I don't think I use the same version of SDD to you anyway. I seem to remember it's very close to where I found the injector coding screen.

I do actually need to run an air path calibration on mine as I fitted a replacement MAF last autumn.

I used to be able to navigate it to the bits I wanted without having to think about it, it's not that many years since I was using on a daily basis but I sometimes have to change the session type two or three times now - BTW, the quickest way to clear stored DTC's is from the PDI session, in case you're not aware.

Have you double checked in Device Manager to make sure the mongoose cable is recognised? And does it say the cable is connected in SSD?

If you set the session to service functions, it'll be in recommendations in the powertrain section.
If I do that here are the only options that I see:

Do I need an older version of SDD do you think? Surely there must be a way to do it in v164 but I've had a pretty good look around now and can't see it.
